Hey - any news from Duke?

Hey - I can tell you what my supervisor and few of my friends who went to USA told me. Yes! Waitlists are realistic. They are usually small, and being waitlisted means they want you, but due to a number of factors, they can’t admit you right away. Sometimes, it happens that no people from waitlist get in, because everyone accepts, but I know 5 people who got in from it. Like everything else with admissions, its Russian roulette. If its any help - a friend of my got waitlisted last week, abd admitted this week. BTW, which program is this?

Just to soothe my anxiety - does no reply for a long time after an interview mean you're rejected? Do programs usually notify accepted candidates by mail prior to publishing the decision on the application portal?

I’m getting very impatient, as they usually released the decisions by the end of January before…

I don’t think you should be! This just means they haven’t made the final decisions yet. They will most likely publish them all at once, I guess - so no need to get hopeless!

Any idea how this works for international students who can’t come for the visit? I’m speaking about Duke specifically

Ahh alright! I did have a talk with a POI, but he mentioned they do interviews, at least in this field. What is your subfield, if I may ask?
