  1. Congratulations!!! They also offered me a fellowship and I was shocked because it was completely unexpected hahaha. I'm very likely accepting and am so excited too
  2. I've heard this is pretty standard. It's mostly so they know how they can improve to attract candidates in the future. Of course, only share if you feel comfortable!
  3. @lychees I guess after you declined, they moved on to me because I JUST GOT AN OFFER FROM OHIO STATE 😭😭😭 OH MY FREAKING GOD I CANT BELIEVE I FINALLY GOT OFF A WAITLIST IM SO EXCITED πŸ˜€πŸ˜πŸ˜€πŸ˜πŸ˜€πŸ˜ Ask them for an extension!!! Ohio State emailed me this morning and I have until Wednesday at 11:59pm to make my decision. Definitely get all your questions answered first.
  4. So happy for you, congratulations!!! I still haven’t heard from any of my waitlists, including Minnesota and Ohio State. Continuing to wait with bated breath over the next 24 hours 😭
  5. Congratulations to both of you!!! Super happy for you both even though I still haven't gotten off either waitlist πŸ˜…
  6. Congratulations on all your acceptances!! I'm on the waitlist for Minnesota for nonfiction and was rejected from NYU, and both sound like incredible programs. Personally, I would choose Minnesota over NYU for the funding and stipend, but since finances is not a decisive factor for you, I suggest considering other factors beyond faculty and location. For instance, what is the teaching load at each program, and how much would you feel comfortable teaching with the funding they are offering you? How much are the student fees, and do they pay for health insurance? Looking at the program requirements, which courses would you be excited to take? Would you prefer a smaller cohort and closer mentorship, or do you want a larger program size and more opportunities for networking? What weather would you prefer as well? Don't worry about whether people would judge you for choosing NYU when the program doesn't offer a living stipend. Each person has their own reasons for choosing their program, so you just do you. Best of luck with your decision! I really don't think you can go wrong with either, and it is just a matter of being confident in the choice you make
  7. I also received that email. Honestly I feel like they probably sent that to many graduate applicants in the humanities without actually looking closely at their profiles. As in, they’re probably not targeting you specifically, they just need more students to apply because they have spots to fill. Idk this is pure speculation, but I just deleted the email LOL
  8. I think most decisions have come out at this point and now it's just the waiting game for all the waitlists 🫠🫠🫠
  9. Congratulations!!! If you stay here continue enjoying the Bay Area weather haha. I didn't apply to any schools in California so will definitely be leaving the Bay to somewhere very cold LOL (it's unfortunate how spoiled I've been by the weather here my whole life πŸ˜…)
  10. Shoutout to WUSTL for their update! They told me, "If you’re receiving this, you are currently placed 3rd or below on our alternate lists," and that students in my position have received offers of admission in the past. Also that the waitlists are short and have grown shorter over the weeks due to applicants accepting other offers. They said that 2 students have accepted and 1 has declined (don't know if this is just for my genre or for all of them), and it's still too early to offer admission to waitlisted candidates. So if you've been waitlisted at one or more schools, don't despair! Seems like there is a lot of movement happening even if schools haven't given any updates. Edit: I emailed to ask for clarification on who has accepted and declined, and they replied very quickly, saying that they need 4 declines across all genres before they start making offers to waitlisted candidates. As of this afternoon, two offers total have been declined, and several more have dropped off the waitlist. So definitely lots of movement happening!
  11. You're welcome! And happy late birthday, fellow Pisces! I turned 27 in late February haha
  12. Haha no problem I can share! It was UC Davis for fiction and Rutgers Camden for nonfiction. Also, you're not missing much on FB LOL. I'm basically on there for groups and local events. The platform is pretty dead for people in my age range (I'm 27). The two people who got accepted off waitlists both had previously reported being waitlisted for their respective schools.
  13. There's already been 2 reports (1 nonfiction, 1 fiction) on the Draft spreadsheet of people getting accepted off waitlists! So I think hopefully we'll see more movement very soon!
  14. Yeah they said that in my letter too. Pretty sure it's just boilerplate language LOL. There's 1 acceptance and 4 waitlists for NYU nonfiction on the MFA Draft Facebook group. Acceptances came out in late February, waitlists on March 7th. I've been assuming a rejection since I haven't heard back.
  15. I'm in nonfiction but according to the Draft spreadsheet it seems like a lot of acceptances and waitlists have already gone out. I haven't heard from them and am assuming a rejection. Enjoy your date night!
