  1. Waitlists follow after the initial offers, don't lose all hope yet! I think someone last year got waitlisted like 3-4 days after initial offers.
  2. I asked my friend there and they think all the initial offers might've gone out at the same time (for all genres).
  3. Hi poets — University of Oregon poetry decisions should be going out tomorrow! If it's like last year, waitlists will follow in the days afterwards. (I heard that fiction is still behind fyi).
  4. Just wanted to give you all a heads up... University of Oregon poetry decisions are still being worked on! Wasn't told when they'd be done, but it was "getting there". Stick in there, y'all!
  5. Just got an acceptance in poetry for Miami University (in Ohio). Turning down, but just writing here in case anyone was on the lookout for them!
  6. Congrats!!! UIUC was my top choice, but I went with my gut on Oregon. Turns out, they only accepted 1 from the waitlist for poetry, so it wouldn't have mattered anyways!
  7. Where at?! Congrats! And aside—I accepted my (poetry) offer from the University of Oregon on April 1. I think the poetry cohort has now been finalized. Where my people at?!
  8. Congrats! If you have questions about Bloomington, feel free to DM. Good luck finding housing! My landlord asked me if I was going to renew for August 2024 on January 2 this year.
  9. Not disagreeing, but the usual creative writing program director is on sabbatical, so a professor from a different department had to step in as the interim-director. That might have something to do with it, unfortunately.
  10. I'm still waiting on UIUC fwiw. (poetry) SIU had some acceptances from what I saw on draft. They might not've posted it on the spreadsheet, but someone was already fairly committed to attending, I think for poetry, but I could be wrong! edit: the SIU acceptance was from mid-february.
  11. I declined my Houston offer (in poetry) yesterday, but from the phone calls I had, it seemed like funding was a bit in flux, as their English department was asked to restructure their writing courses (AKA the ones grad students teach). Initially, I was told they were admitting 3 in poetry MFA, 3 in fiction MFA, 3 in poetry PhD, and 3 in fiction PhD. I wouldn't be surprised if they figured out a way to fund additional students, since that was the low-end of their normal cohort size. That being said, if you have to reneg on an offer, it is what it is. People do it.
  12. I got an acceptance during a school's spring break. It's impossible to know though; just depends on their faculty, who may be traveling or otherwise busy during the break.
  13. Congrats, @Scribe! In terms of waitlists moving... I don't think their waitlists have even been finalized, but I plan to decline my offer from the University of Houston tomorrow. So, if someone gets in for poetry, thank me later!
  14. That is totally up to you. The deadline is April 15 (unless stated otherwise) so you are fully within your rights to wait until then to make your final decision. I wouldn't worry about it looking bad or anything!
  15. Not sure if anyone else is waiting on them, but I reached out to Miami University (in OH) and basically asked for a status update (since I'm not likely to attend either way). They said they'd know more in April when movement starts to happen... So I guess that means everyone who applied is waitlisted until their cohort is finalized? 😬
