Got rejected to the UVA PhD program today, but accepted to the masters. Definitely a bit of a let down, as this was one of my top choices. Four more decisions to come!
I spoke with my advisor yesterday, and she mentioned that her colleague on the admissions committee at UVA said they've received a shockingly high number applicants with masters degrees. I have no sense for what the ratio of students applying straight from undergrad versus from masters programs is (especially at programs outside this one), but I was surprised to hear it's disproportionate.
Hey y’all, I saw from previous years that UMich sends out decisions around this time. Has anyone heard anything?? I checked the portal this morning but it hasn’t changed. Also, it seems like the next big one coming up is UPenn around 2/10-2/25. My contact there isn’t on the admissions committee, but I’m tempted to email him inquiring about the timeline… I don’t want to sound desperate tho lol
Hello fellow Comms PhD applicants! Nice to find a little community here. The waiting game is rough, but I have hope that we'll all find a research home somewhere
Waiting: UCSD, USC, UPenn, UVA, and UMich
Rejected: Stanford
