    Thank you so much with your sincere and detailed comment! I started to get emails from GSU to accept offer and secure my spot, which makes me a bit agitated😂 As you guys commented, I will definitely take location and living expenses into account before making a final decision! As I mentioned before, I got an offer from UIUC and GSU (still waiting for ISU and UHM) but those two pose distinct advantages and disadvantages in terms of location. One thing I'm worried about UIUC is that it is situated in a college town, which may result in a safe yet potentially dull lifestyle😂 I'm still undecided whether this aspect will ultimately be an advantage or a disadvantage. And I felt the same way with UHM. All of the committees were very friendly and supportive but one of them asked me very detailed questions about the future and past research. I'm not sure about the positive result but we'll see! Fingers crossed for all three of us!

    Wow! Congrats! As I remember, you probably mean Penn state, right? Hope you can make a fine decision after considering all the possible options! I also applied to Penn state but haven't heard anything yet!

    Thanks for asking. Um...I don't have specific top choice in my mind actually. I applied to programs only if there is a high alignment of research interests.. So I will choose a program based on its funding and rankings. I currently got admissions offer from UIUC and GSU, both of which have a very nice program with supportive faculty members. I haven't got any notice from MSU yet! It seems like a silent rejection may be...?

    Same here. I also felt the interview was really intense and it seemed like they really want to know the research capacity of the applicant!

    Hello all! I finished my interview with UIUC, GSU. Both departments told me the decision will be announced within a few weeks. I have another interview with ISU today, and just got an interview offer from U of Hawaii.

    Thank you so much for the update! I'm glad that your interview went well. For ISU, my interview is scheduled for this Friday. When I contacted my POI earlier last December, I also got the same notice about the funding, that most doctoral students start the program working in teaching assistantship. Anyway, I will also keep you posted on how things go! Good luck to both of us!

    Sorry for the late reply. I also got an interview offer from GSU and ISU! Hope our admission process goes well! I am still waiting for an invitation from the University of Hawaii. I noticed that you already had had prelim when you contacted some POIs there and got another prelim invitation a week ago. Were those two prelims different in terms of interviewers? Do you think they sent an official interview offer? I also had a prelim when contacting POI, and heard that he will be in touch during the admission process, but heard nothing yet. Could you please share more of your prelims from UH? Thank you so much in advance, and I hope everything goes well with your admission process!

    I just want to say that I mentioned only one in my SOP, and his field heavily lies in language assessment. If you browse through the faculty list from the webpage, you will definitely find who he is. I didn't contact him prior to submitting the application.
