  1. I interviewed with Williams recently, and was told that the process is indeed rolling, as many of the initial batch they give offers to end up also being accepted to PhD programs and turning down the Williams offers. Also, if you're sure you want to do premodern only then you might want to consider how much you might be able to get out of the program. I was given the impression that their faculty composition right now is heavily leaning towards the modern/contemporary areas. As for UPenn, I was informally accepted this week for the MA over a call with my poi, after being rejected from the PhD. If you applied for the MA only you should probably expect a decision soon.
  2. Many art history departments also offer advanced standing only to graduates of two-year MA programs, allowing you to count your MA coursework towards one year of coursework in the PhD track.
  3. Congratulations on your many acceptances! I am also waiting on Williams at the moment. Your specialization is interesting—I'm currently in a transitory phase looking at antique and late antique engraved gems, particularly in early Christian contexts but also examining fascinations with various types of marbles.
  4. I applied to the MA in art history and museum studies, and the DGS emailed me yesterday with an informal acceptance; the official letter came in the portal today. The department admin. also hinted to me that they release decisions all at once, but I'm not sure if that is 100% correct so keep up hope. I will probably not accept the offer since they didn't give me too much funding, and I have offers from better programs with better funding. As for Williams, no news from them yet, although I am not feeling positive since I realize I made a bunch embarrassing typos in the statement đŸ¤ª.
  5. I am only referring to the History of Art department. I am unsure of anything about the School of Design.
  6. It was implied to me that they have sent out all PhD offers and are finalizing MA offers. They will not send out official rejections until March 11 or later... It's sad cus I interviewed with them and was really excited about going ;C
  7. Generally speaking, most MA programs do not do interviews (with a few exceptions like Williams). For departments that offer both the PhD and the terminal MA, PhD applications are almost always reviewed first, while MA applications tend to be reviewed during February, with decisions coming out during March.
  8. Does anyone know what's going on at UPenn? When I interviewed with them they said that decisions would come either last week or this week, but so far it has been crickets on my end. There was one acceptance about a week ago, so I wonder if they sent out all PhD acceptances already and are just waiting to evaluate the MA pool before sending out official rejections/waitlists in March. Based on past posts here on GC it seems that UPenn HoA (and a lot of UPenn programs in general) is pretty notorious for keeping people hanging. I don't want to email my POI asking for updates out of fear of being seen as impatient or pushy, but the anxiety is killing me!!
  9. I'm tempted to think they do. I called and the dept. admin. told me that the "process is still continuing....."
  10. You should be cautious on GC - people have submitted false results before in the past to mess with others' anxiety and stress. I would say the best option right now is to just stay patient and wait for email/portal notifications... Alternatively, you could also try contacting the departmental staff member (not faculty) responsible for the graduate program and ask them for progress updates (I would advise against contacting your poi or other faculty this early since it might be seen as rude or pushy).
  11. Interviewed with them two weeks ago..was told that decisions should come out this week or the next. Anxious waiting continues.. I wonder if they send out acceptances bit by bit or all at once.
  12. Tufts has only just begun reviewing the applications. Decisions should be released around early March.
