  1. Typical Public Health Careers are: Health Services Researcher Public Health Scientist Statistician Biostatistician Administration Officer Academia (Tenure/Non-tenure) Epidemiologist Policy Analyst You don't need to work only at the CDC, you can work at other government agencies like the VA, FDA, USDA. You can also work at your state/local Health Agency (for California, it would be CDPH). There's also private companies like bio-tech companies or even FAANG who hire health researchers for their health-related applications. Another set of companies can be insurance and hospitals such as Kaiser, USC Hospital, UCI Health, etc. as a researcher. If you are very programmer heavy, you can also just leverage it and be a SWE as the PhD will at the very least show you hold critical thinking skills and can solve complex problems.
  2. I was offered that from someone at a school. Depends on the intent I suppose. Are they reading it just to make sure you are following the required prompt(s) or are they reading it to help you out? I can't think of a strong reason not to due to ill-intentions tho.
  3. UC Irvine just released acceptances for Public Health PhD!
  4. Chapman's pharmaceutical econ program offered me a position in lab as a PhD student/researcher for anyone waiting to hear back from that school. Director of UCLA's HPM program reached out and said decisions will be made by next week at latest if others are waiting for that as well.
  5. Had interview with UCI PhD Public Health today. Rejected for Berkeley Health Policy last week. UCLA HPM is currently in the middle of the evaluation process (currently having mentors review applicants) so should hear back in 1-2 weeks.
