Has anyone declined their offer from the University of Tennessee (for fiction)? I'm on the waitlist and waiting on some good news.

The program sounds AMAZING and the current students I've talked to have had really good things to say! Their stipend recently increased and the healthcare sounds pretty decent as well.

Just declined an offer from the University of Oregon (for fiction). Congrats to whoever gets pulled from the waitlist!!!! :)

@Rixor Yeah, it's a tough situation. I did ask our property management for an extension. They told us we couldn't get an extension, but that we could renew for a month-to-month lease at $1000 on top of what we pay now! LOL I may reach out to the program and ask for an update. Based on info from previous years, they should be notifying by the end of February, but I am super afraid they won't this year. Ahh. Thank you for the advice!

Is it inappropriate to reach out and ask when I'll hear back about my application? I'm in a bit of a pickle because my apartment complex requires a 60-day notice to renew (which for me is February 29th). So, yeah, I'm stressed and am eagerly waiting to hear back from my top choice!!!

Am I the only one with a bad taste in their mouth knowing UTK waitlists so many people? Just feels....icky.

@cashewgirl Hey! I think I was the one that mentioned UTK having the 3 spots for fiction. I may have misspoke. It's possible that it's 3 spots split between fiction/nonfiction. Their website isn't super clear. I'm sorry if I caused any confusion.

Did anyone else apply to the University of Kentucky?

I thought UMICH accepted nine in each genre?

Same. I was waitlisted by them last year. They alternate the acceptance numbers by genre each year. Last year, they accepted 2 for fiction, so this year it should be 3.

I've only seen one posted so far...I wonder if they're sending acceptances gradually.

According to the Draft results, they already nominated one person from poetry and fiction for fellowships. A general acceptance is still totally in the cards though!!! 😄

The one acceptance I've received was from the University of Oregon!
