  1. Hi, I didn't find out much more but I do think we're on some kind of "waitlist" (though the chances, I would say, of being offered $ later on is pretty slim). From what I could see from some Googling, there is a middle category between offered and not offered, which is recommended but not funded (I think I missed the cutoff by 0.1 which is pretty frustrating but alas).

  3. Hi all, congrats to all those who received an award! I sadly was not offered one (committee 1, score 9.91). My letter says that although my application "was recommended for funding by the merit review committee, SSHRC is presently unable to offer you an award through the SSHRC Doctoral Awards competition." The letter says they will contact me should funds become available. This sounds to me like I might be on an unofficial waitlist, though I'm guessing the chances of being offered an award later on are fairly slim...(I doubt many people refuse their offers!) Did anyone here receive a similar letter? And does anyone know if there's a chance of actually being offered an award at a later date?
  4. Hi everyone, I received a call from a DGS today telling me I had been waitlisted. This is the first somewhat good news I've had so far so I was thrilled to receive the call. However, I was outside during it and was also slightly in shock, so I didn't ask very many questions and basically just thanked the DGS for calling and told her how interested I was in the program (and said "wow!" a lot). She said there was a chance I could be accepted given my field and the applicant spots (depending on acceptances, obviously). While I don't want to get my hopes up, I wanted to ask: 1) Should I send a quick follow-up email to thank the DGS again for the call and reiterate my interest? I want to do this out of politeness mainly and also in case a spot opens up. 2) If yes, does anyone have any tips/suggestions for additional questions I could/should ask in said email? Thank you!!
