  1. My understanding is that some people at Iowa get fellowships for their first year and some teach comp; for the second year everyone teaches creative writing.
  2. Thank you! For sure, the competition is intense, but I do think the relative size of their cohort gives them the ability to accept some people who are good writers but who other programs wouldn't take a risk on. Funding is the same for everyone--$26,000 a year. I know that wasn't always the case but it is now! I am Getty lol Congratulations to those of you who got into NYU--a great achievement!
  3. I didn't get a clear sense of how far along they were in notifying people; my intuition is that they aren't too far along yet. Only three people (including me) have said anything on MFA draft, which doesn't seem like a lot for a class of 25.
  4. Thank you! For sure! I was starting to think this year was a wash--I was starting to think about what I should change for my second year applying. I'm glad I don't have to worry about that anymore!
  5. All right, I have been officially accepted into Iowa! There were over 900 applicants this year, apparently, which makes me feel insane that I'd be picked. Especially considering I'd been batting 6/6 rejections, plus one soft rejection. Technically I haven't heard back from Brown or UVA yet but I plan to accept Iowa's offer.
  6. Will do! My intuition is that it's still early days, but I may be wrong. Not many people have posted Iowa acceptances on the spreadsheet on Draft and only one person's written a post. Thanks! It's all I can think about right now.
  7. Thanks! I'm trying not to get ahead of myself. The words "You're accepted!" haven't been said yet.
  8. So I literally just got this email from Director Chang (I live in Taiwan). I'm breathless. Not an official acceptance yet but I can't imagine she would offer to set up a zoom call over a rejection or waitlist?
  9. Thanks--both of y'all. I appreciate it!
  10. Congrats to everyone who's gotten in anywhere or been waitlisted! Out of curiosity, does anyone know how waitlists at Iowa work? Because I know they call acceptances but mail out rejections. Do they mail out waitlists as well?
  11. Lurker for a while, finally joined. As stands now: (0a/0w/4r/6p) with two further presumed rejections (Oregon and Michigan). Still waiting on Syracuse, Iowa, Brown, and UVA, but assuming this year is a wash. My first rejection was the closest I had to a "safety" (Kansas). Telling myself this means I just need to work harder for the next year. Read more, write more, get better.
