  1. I accepted my offer but I will be completing it on a part-time basis because I just started a job in the field. The job prospects are good in my opinion, especially if you are doing the internship. Several of the people that I have met at my company have been hired straight out of their internships with U of T's health informatics program, so I would assume that the outlook is the same for Mac students. For context, the company I work for is under the umbrella of one of two of the largest digital health tech companies in Canada and they are expanding rapidly, so I think this is a great time to be getting into the field. Digital security, health project management and data analytics seem like big priorities right now.
  2. Heyy could you add me please?? jess91
  3. Update for anyone still waiting - I received my interview invitation today, it’s scheduled for April 18th keep your hopes up!
  4. Thank you! I worked as a registered pharmacy technician for a few years and then went to McMaster for my undergrad in socsci. While I was doing my degree I transitioned to a role as a medical administrative assistant for a family physician and from there I was able to network with other physicians, drug reps, and health software company reps to find my new role. I have heard from other people that leveraging your contacts is the most effective path to pivoting into a new industry and I would have to agree. If you don't have a large network, my other suggestion would be to find people on LinkedIn at companies that you're interested in and ask if they're willing to share some info about how they landed their role, or if they would be willing to hop on a call with you to give advice, and then try to maintain those relationships with them
  5. I'm in the same situation, I thought I had a good application and strong recommendations but I haven't heard anything back. I asked for an update and they got back to me on Thursday saying my application was still under review, but I am guessing the chances are slim. I just accepted a job offer with a health tech company though, so if I am rejected this time I will re-apply next year as a part-time student instead, and having the work experience should improve my application too.
