  1. Did you find this out? Did they tell everyone that made it this far that they were recommended for funding?
  2. Mine was too. I haven't received a score that low on anything since my undergrad.
  3. I received the same letter, and I am wondering too. Did you find anything out? Did they just send that same letter to everyone who made it to this round? As in, if we made it this far we are considered "recommended for funding"?
  4. Last initial: R Committee: 4D I was not successful. Thanks everyone for your support through this.
  5. WOW! That is a fantastic topic that needs to be talked about more. Please try not to feel too discouraged - I know it is hard though. I am certain that this will be a successful research topic if you remain persistent. I personally would love to read your final dissertation when you are done.
  6. How do you know they will be released in 4-5 hours? Is it an estimate based on yesterday or did you get an email? I have my candidacy exam tomorrow so this is not ideal. lol. I can't focus on prepping right now no matter how hard I try, and if I don't get funding my emotions will high (not in a good way), and that is going to make the exam even more challenging. Ugh....
  7. Do the universities find out before we do? That would be strange!
  8. That's what I am thinking! I am going to keep my eye out to see if we start seeing any members from the second group get results!!!
  9. Is it just the CGS-D applications coming in right now? Was that a separate application from SSHRC?
  10. Thank you. I had really hoped to do better. I guess onwards and upwards. Good luck with the SSHRC!
  11. I'm sorry. It really sucks. I didn't get funding either. 😔 On top of that, my score was only 82. I was 8/21 and up to 5 in my category got funding. I am feeling super sad because if my score was that low, I think my chances for SSHRC are pretty much zero. I have to try and prep for my candidacy exam on Thursday, and my motivation to do that is really low now. 😣
  12. anybody else not able to get in to their FRQnet portfolio?
  13. Somewhat. About halfway through last year I was seriously considering quitting. I was miserable. It just became too hard trying to do school work, work RA jobs, write for publication, apply and prepare for conferences, apply for funding all while trying to make ends meet with an outside job. Maybe I was delusional, but I really thought I would have received some additional funding by now. I was lead to believe by supervisors and the department that I had a great chance. Apparently that is not the case. Haha! Now nearing the end of my third year, I am doubtful that the funding will happen, but I feel like I have gone too far to quit now. So I think I will stick it out.
  14. I wonder if it is possible that your institution can deny you from accepting both? Because I know a handful of people who have won both and I am pretty certain they didn't accept both. Or maybe they just didn't know that they could.
  15. That's totally a fair reason to pick the one with more funds! Isn't it about $1-2k more for the FRQSC?
  16. Hi Gretta! Came here from the SSHRC thread. I think, my preference, would be to accept SSHRC because it is considered a more prestigious and widely known award. I had friends who won both, and even through SSHRC was less money, they accepted SSHRC instead of FRQSC because of that. Someone else may have more insight into that though.
  17. Oh, thank you! I looked for a recent one but could not find it for this year. I will look again. Didn't mean to hijack this thread. lol.
  18. Anyone here also apply for FRQSC? Heard anything?
  19. Curious to know - do the emails trickle in slowly over time or do they send them out all at once?
