  1. I'm looking into liberal studies programs for Fall 2013 b/c I have interdisciplinary interests and also as a way to strengthen a future PhD application. I want to be in a scholarly environment and I want to study in New York City. I'm exploring the the CUNY Graduate Center's MA program in Liberal Studies and also the NYU Draper Program. The Graduate Center's program allows me to take at least six of the ten courses within their doctoral programs; the structure of the Draper program is unclear. CUNY offers tracks in American Studies, Women's studies, the Psychology of Work and Family, and these are all areas that match my interests. Also, CUNY's program is affordable. If anyone can provide feedback to me about these programs and other interdisciplinary that I should be considering in NYC, I'd love to hear from you. Thanks!
  2. I've been exploring the CUNY Graduate Center offerings and I've been looking at the specializations within their Liberal Studies interdisciplinary master's program. I'm interested in Psychology and in gender studies but I don't think that my credentials are at the level right now for a doctoral program. The Grad Center's Liberal Studies MA Program offers a program in the Psychology of Work and Family and also in Women's and Gender Studies. I think one of those may be a good an option for me (demonstrate that I can do good work in graduate level courses, allow me to work with specific CUNY Psychology faculty, and the reasonable CUNY tuition costs cannnot be minimized either). Most of the faculty teaching in the program are also on their doctoral faculty and teach within the PHD programs so that is a clear benefit for someone like me who is not yet ready to take that step to a doctoral degree. I know that the CUNY Graduate Center is recognized as a place of scholarship and that the faculty are well known in their field. I would like to hear fron anyone who is also exploring the CUNY Grad Center's MALS program and other interdisciplinary programs in the NYC area.
