NYU waitlisted me on March 7th via email, I'm a fiction applicant. I haven't received any admissions updates from them since then, only responses to my questions about the program.

Is anyone else considering The New School? I would love to discuss what your thoughts are!!

i got waitlisted at one of my top choices, and accepted to a program i feel fine about. i feel like i read somewhere that if you get an acceptance, you can tell the waitlist and somehow use it as...leverage?? maybe?? i truly don't remember, does anyone know what i'm talking about LOL

I applied to BU as a fiction applicant and got my rejection on 2/21/2025

i got into the new school with a scholarship that covers 60% of tuition. it's still like insanely expensive etc etc but im truly stunned. also i applied for their childrens/YA program idk if anyone else is in that genre specifically???

also haven't heard anything yet -- but you're the only person I've come across who also applied to The New School!

Mine also changed, within the last 3 hours because it was still "under program review" when I checked this morning. I don't want to break my own heart by reading into things but I'm taking any sign I can get tbh

waitlisted at NYU for fiction, i really thought i would get no positive news this cycle!!! my only goal was to get at least one waitlist i'm insanely proud of myself

Rutgers-Newark just sent me an email with the subject line "You're invited to a..." and it was to a goddamn info session i'm so riled up

How many people are in Brown's cohort roughly? Esp their fiction cohort? I've had a hard time finding this info anywhere

I feel exactly the same and I wish I could email to ask, it feels in such poor taste to give this kind of hope to people they are 100% sure they're not going to accept...very frustrating!!

A question that's unrelated to admissions/applications, as a palate cleanser! I'm a fiction writer, but I'm really interested in creative nonfiction, mostly because I have no idea what it is. For the CNF writers: how did you discover your genre? What are your favorite pieces of CNF writing?

this honestly made me feel so much better and is such a great way of framing it -- maybe i'll be rejected, but at least it took them a while to decide!! thank you for sharing your professors' wisdom

Why is Johns Hopkins staggering rejections??? It seems like fiction rejections went out last week on 2/18 and 2/19, but I still haven't received mine. I don't understand the point of this at all! Is this normal?
