Anyone still not heard anything?

This is common for folks who have been waitlisted, but not for other cases.

Looks like somebody else called in and got rejected.... oh gawd... i can't take it anymore!

Looks like sombebody got an admission according to the results page, perhaps there's still hope.. I called the other day, they gave the stock response: "decisions are still being made, you'll probably hear back by mid March at the latest." Ah well, at least the suspense can't last much longer.

They sent out some positive responses last year during the first week of March...

It depends on your subfield, and each subfield has sub-subfields that have their classics. Look up qualifying exam reading lists at different schools to get a sense of what you'll be looking at.

Why won't this thread die...? Legal training is totally irrelevant to academia. A JD would make more sense in a history course on U.S. law, not so much on the analytical frameworks involved in political science.

Yeah, I actually made the profile expecting to never make any posts... It'd be interesting to know if us remaining folks are competitive candidates, at least prima facie. I would assume that if they thought we were scrubs they'd just give us the ol' valentine's day boot.

In a lot of programs, you can kind of think of it as a rescaling of grades. Grad school A = A Grad school A- = B Grad school B+ = C Grad school B = D Grad school B- = F

What is going on with UCLA? Hopefully there'll be a few more acceptances trickling out in the coming days/weeks...

That's a weird email someone got from USC. Is it common to get a "we are very interested" email prior to an actual acceptance?
