Last of my apps have been submitted…feeling strangely at peace even if I do check draft every other hour! February feels so long from now, and I can’t believe that is the earliest I will get any word back. Best of luck everyone!! 🙂

Yeah, I definitely think restraining yourself from getting too attached to the idea of one school/city is helpful. I applied to 7 schools and my top are NYU, syracuse, and UNCG, but really id be happy about getting admitted anywhere. What is your thesis about, if you don’t mind me asking? Also, even if it isn’t healthy, i am right there beside you checking every 30 minutes. even seeing some results come in like the UIUC one comforts me because i am like: Ok. Results will eventually come if I just keep waiting a little bit longer.

Right, the potential logistics of it all is driving me crazy. I want to get a pet but then it is like, Oh well now i have to potentially move a pet across the country with me! or maybe not! And yeah, I applied to schools in various parts of the country and I don’t want to begin planning or thinking about moving because I don’t want to expect to get in and then don’t. I hope your MA studies provide a distraction for you in these coming months though! Also I literally had to delete facebook from my phone especially now that the results sheet is live

The waiting for the next 2 months is going to drive me insane lol. I have told myself that the earliest I will probably get any results is early Feb which feels like forever to go but then I remember that its already been a month since I submitted apps, so time will pass fast enough

hi everyone! has anyone else found it almost impossible to write anything new the past 2 months? I felt so consumed with application stress which has now transformed into application dread lolll... wondering how you guys are working through it / any good books to distract myself with? happy New Years n best of luck with results!

im on draft and i got approved pretty quickly (i think 1 or 2 days) but it has been less active for the past week so it may just be the mods being busy with holidays

Lolll i think it may be that everyone is trying to relax before the chaos of january-april begins… i have been freaking out internally but have to tell myself that results wont come out in december even if im like what if…..

Omg this sounds so interesting......definitely interested in how these ideas appeared in your writing sample. Similar to you guys, my writing is definitely influenced by the limits of the English language and what I can do within these confines. My influences for my writing are Toni Morrison, Raven Leilani, and James Baldwin: all writers interacting with different types of intimacy. My SOP was about the case of Andrea Yates and the notion of imperfect care, and my writing sample follows three characters: Michael and Candy who both work at an STD clinic, and Felix, Michael's boyfriend.

Lolll i totally get why you applied to 10 programs, and i honestly wouldve too if so many fully funded programs didnt require mfa students to teach freshman comp lol. Can i ask what schools you applied to?

How many programs do you guys think is enough to reasonably apply to? I am applying for fiction programs, and have already submitted apps to NYU, UNCG, UWASH at STL and Rutgers, but wondering if applying to a few more programs would be beneficial in terms of even slightly increasing my chances of getting in?
