  1. Just saw one post from an applicant who has received offer from Yale Political Science Phd program; with GRE Scores 156Q, 159 V; quite low Scores as the applicant stated. This really surprised me; really don't understand and probably would never understand how admission committees -especially in the top Phd programs - make their decisions 😕
  2. Did you send them email? I don't know why but Georgetown is one of the programs which is quite late in responding to the applicants 😕
  3. Very high number. Do you know how many students Cornell admitted?
  4. Hi, I hope you are fine. For those who applied to American University - both SPA and SIS- I asked professors at both Departments and they told me that the each departments admitted 10 students at the initial stage but they didn't give information about how many students have been waitlisted.
  5. Anyone who applied to more than 10 programs but still waits acceptances? I have been waitlisted at three schools but couldn't get any acceptance yet; I wonder whether this is due to the fact I applied while already being enrolled at a PhD program 😕
  6. But many universities still continued their usual schedule today; hopefully we can hear positive news tomorrow
  7. I didn't apply to UT Austin but I know one applicant who has been waitlisted for UT; CP subfield.
  8. Hi everyone! I think it was being discussed here before but does anyone know how many students Northwestern admitted for PhD this year, especially for Comparative politics subfield?
  9. I can't say anything about Syracuse but it might be sign of soft rejection for UW-Madison, based on my previous experience:/
  10. I would like to ask to what extent PhD admission committees really focus on GPAs of applicants; do they tend to determine a cut-off level for waitlisted applicants? I saw one applicant who posted his or her admission from George Washington University with GPA level 3.22; probably Undergraduate GPA. Couldn't be sure how they assess different GPA levels from American applicants and applicants applying from the US; if there were applicants having been waitlisted. I wanted to ask this because it is difficult for me to understand how the admission committees can prefer Undergraduate applicants who applied straight out of Undergraduate programs with maybe lower GPAs; but they put the ones into waitlist who have great GPAs from their MA programs. I wonder how they balance this.

  12. It is a new R1 but unfortunately, its Department of Government is quite static and does almost nothing 😕
  13. yes,it has been quite silent 😕
  14. Thanks for this information. But what if this might be perceived negatively by the professors in the admission committee? Sometimes, professors receive so many emails from applicants that they might react negatively towards constant email coming from waitlisted applicants.
  15. It was on February 5th, namely last week.
  16. Hi everyone, wish you best of luck. In my previous previous application cycle, I have been waitlisted at 4 political science phd programs; now so far I received three waitlists and still no admission offer yet. But I think I have become the veteran of waitlisted applicants
  17. Anyone here who received admission from Washington-St.Louis Political Science PhD program? I have been waitlisted there for Comparative Politics, I just wanted to ask some questions to those received offer from there.
  18. I hope Stanford would admit you into their program.
  19. Asking for curiosity, I saw one post citing the University of Michigan:"The University of Michigan Political Science department received over 600 applications to our Ph.D. program this year." Can this be correct? I couldnt be sure whether University of Michigan received such a high number of applications.
  20. Any George Washington PhD admits here? Just seen an admission post a few minutes ago for Comparative politics.
  21. I wish departments and PhD programs pre-announce their intention to admit more students from specific fields so that applicants would not feel disappointed or have at least some predictions 😕
  22. University of Chicago is extra competitive program; don't feel your disappointed for not being able to getting into UChicago. I hope you would hear positive news from the remaining schools which you applied.
  23. Anyone here who applied to American University and received admission offer? As Graduate student there, I don't recommend the PhD program as the Department has very low funding during these days 😕
  24. Maybe we might hear from George Washington University this week.
  25. They tend to send rejections around last week of February or 1st week of March, based on my previous experience.
