Pol Sci 2024-25 / Waitlisted Candidates

Hi, were you informed about the waitlist through the portal? I applied to Rutgers but haven’t heard anything from them. According to the portal there’s no decision on my application yet, it’s still under review. I find it odd since I heard all of their decisions were already out. I’m just curious anyway, as I’ve already accepted another school’s offer -
Just out of curiosity, did you get any official communication about that? I saw the Wesa article on Reddit, but that's all.
-
Talked to the professor last year and they said that all results would be sent out in the first weeks of February.
-
Just got accepted to UMN too. CP subfield. So very happy!
-
Congrats! Was it earlier today or just now?
-
It looks like UMN is out. Has anyone here received an offer? I checked the portal, and my application status still says awaiting decision
-
I think we should expect to hear from UMN by Monday or Tuesday at the latest. That would still be consistent with past years
-
I was admitted to UCR last week. A colleague of mine was interviewed by UCLA a couple of weeks ago
-
Thank you! It's still early in the process, hope everything works out great for you

Hello guys! Claiming an acceptance from UGA.
-
Quoting cos huge Lana fan here too! 🌸 Good luck on your apps!

Yes, I applied to UMN too, and it seems to be a general issue. I've seen people from other fields mentioning it on reddit.

Hey guys, it looks like UT Austin is out. Any CP applicants here?
-
Congrats! I think it's less common than in STEM programs, but not unheard of. I've also seen some folks on reddit mentioning invites from UCLA too. I'm not entirely sure how these interviews typically go, but based on the experiences of a few colleagues, I'd recommend being prepared to talk about relevant projects you've worked on, why this program is a good fit for you, and your career plans. Good luck!

Hi, they usually release all their decisions by the end of January. It’s too early to assume rejection at this point
-
Hello, I'm in a very similar situation. I applied to 8 programs, but I was sort of in a hurry for several reasons. I thought about applying to more schools but decided to focus on places where I have a strong fit and would genuinely be happy to attend. I'm international and not entirely sure about my competitiveness, so I'm concentrating my shots on the T50-T30 range. Regarding the waiting period, I actually believe we'll start hearing back soon. Some programs have already been releasing acceptances or interview invites since last week. I’d say I underestimated how hard it'd be to wait for news, it’s been indeed tormenting. I have to submit my master’s thesis in less than two months, so I’m trying to focus on that while also preparing myself mentally for some rejections. Anyway, I hope this cycle isn’t too brutal and that we all end up with great offers. Good luck!

I was surprised by that too, as they have historically released decisions around mid-jan. I believe we'll hear from them in the next couple of weeks. Good luck!

Hi everyone! I've been following this forum for almost 3 years and this is my first application cycle. I'm glad to share this season with you all—best of luck!
