  1. ahhh i see, thank you for your response! having limited access to facilities does sound really annoying especially since im pretty multimedia and im going to grad school precisely because i want to be immersed in a community of people who really care about their work 😕 its such a bummer to hear since im pretty set on going to grad school this year and MICA's my most realistic option in terms of acceptance rate.
  2. what did you hear about MICA if you dont mind sharing? they werent on my list until i had a great meeting with them during a portfolio review event. I dont love baltimore so if i get accepted ill still be on the fence.
  3. Just got a rejection email from Northwestern : (
  4. theyre a ceramicist and sculptor, they applied to ceramics programs if the school offers it and sculpture if the school only has sculpture, i didnt apply to tyler so im not sure if theyre separate.
  5. a friend of mine applied to tyler and has already received an interview request! i think they got the invite on saturday, or friday. they submitted their application on the 5th of january i believe.
  6. Does anyone know anything about the CMU mfa visual art program? im debating on applying because ive heard mixed things about it and i dont know if i would want to live there but i heard its free and i already have all my application stuff prepped... also seriously hoping that there are a lot less people applying considering how much fewer posts there are this year in this forum lol
  7. Just sent in my applications for SAIC, MICA, Yale, UCLA and Northwestern! Kinda on the fence on carnegie, NYU and maybe another UC school that can be fully funded! Good luck to everyone ❤️
  8. Thank you!! just watched their video with current students where the students showed their portfolio and it was so helpful. Good luck to you too!
  9. Hi everyone! Joining the freakout right now, I graduated from my undergrad in 2023 and im currently applying for the first time for Fall 2025. Im a painter who dabbles in sculpture from time to time Im applying to Yale (i mean why not haha) Northwestern SAIC UCLA either pratt or parsons MICA Maybe NYU, Uchicago and RISD though i realistically wouldnt be able to afford RISD and living in new york I know these are all very competitive programs but there are very few schools im willing to go into debt for tbh. My absolute top choices are Yale and Northwestern but it seems like they prefer abstract painters and im a staunch figurative painter whos work has elements of humor (but are NEVER funny!). Plus we all know theyre notoriously ultra competitive. When i toured Northwestern, the person giving me the tour mentioned that they got about three times more requests for tours this year than previous years and that they believe that this upcoming cycle will be a lot more competitive. I even attended a portfolio review event in person where a few of the not super competitive schools told me I seemed ready to apply this year although i was not able to get a review with more competitive schools as the lines were either insanely long (The event ended while i was in line for RISD ) or time slots were instantly snatched up. Are there any Yale or Northwestern grads/alumni here who are willing to provide some insight on what they are looking for in the application and what the program is like? haha...
