  1. I am an international student and in 2023 was accepted to a Masters program of a Canadian university. I went to the country, met with my supervisors and everything was going ok but, for personal reasons, I had to withdraw and return home, even before classes started. I asked for a deferral, but one of the profs would go on sabatical for research, and wouldn't accept new students. I then decided to apply again for a similar Masters program of another university (Fall 2025). When contacting a potential supervisor, I explained what happened last year, attaching the other university offer as an evidence. The professor was nice to me but I am wondering if the fact that I withdrew last year could harm my chances of being accepted... Is anyone there who was in a similar situation, or know someone who did? Do you happen to know how departments or admissions comittees see this? Is it likely that they will talk to the professors of the other institution? Thank you.
