  1. Okay, that was a major typo! I meant UCB! So sorry to mislead!
  2. Hey, thanks! And Congrats right back! Keeping my fingers crossed! I haven't heard from USC and I'm assuming I didn't get in due to the other post saying 20 people are being interviewed for 7 slots.
  3. My advice is do your research, know why you want to go to that school, and be yourself. Good luck! and Congratulations!
  4. Congratulations! That's awesome! I almost applied there as well, but I just had to narrow my list down.
  5. In my opinion, Absolutely! CCA only offered a phone interview and it sounds like SFAI is mainly doing phone interviews as well. (They said you could request an in person interview if you really wanted one, but it was totally optional.) Good luck!
  6. They haven't told me yet, but as soon as I find out, I'll let you know ~ that would be great!!!
  7. OMG! I just got an email to schedule an interview with SFAI!
  8. I've been having this same problem. I seriously think the US postal service is having issues, although I am blaming the weather. Two of the schools (UW and Cranbrook) I had to include the transcripts with the applications to be mailed. Since I still had not received the transcripts in the mail (after my 2nd request!) I included copies with a note explaining everything. A few days later I did get UW's and immediately next day delivered it. Cranbrook's should have been with UW's and I still haven't received it! so I'm going to have to request it again! Both SFAI and Tyler were super nice about it and let me email them a copy. Very very frustrating!
  9. I applied to Pratt for Painting. What are you applying for?
  10. I found out yesterday, via email, that I have a phone interview this week with CCA. I'm excited and nervous!
  11. Wow, I'm really glad you started this thread. I also applied to UofW and had no idea of these issues, so this has been really helpful. Thanks!
  12. Did you have your interview yet? I just found out yesterday that I have a phone interview with CCA on Tuesday. What kinds of questions did they have for you? Any tips would be helpful!!!
  13. I applied to 16 schools and was nervous about asking the same people, so I had one extra person write a few. For each recommender, I gave them a packet describing why I was applying to grad school, a synopsis of why I wanted to attend each school, a CD with my portfolio on it so they could see what I was submitting, and some yummy goodies to help them through it. As a thank you, I gave a card, bottle of wine, and a box of (my favorite) designer chocolates. Most of my schools had electronic recommendations, so that made it easier in terms of the envelopes.
  14. I am on the exact same page as you!!! What a process! At least I have a better idea of the direction my work will be taking over the next year!
  15. Ten is a lot, so don't knock yourself! I originally wanted to keep my list to just ten, but I couldn't narrow it down. And then I kept getting the advice to apply to as many as you can, since it is so competitive. But, if you have the time...couldn't hurt. I was also going to apply to Syracuse U. since their deadline is also Feb. 1 (and everything is online), but it turns out they are a three year program, which I just can't do.
  16. I'm actually still finishing two apps. due Feb. 1. My focus is painting and I'm applying to: UCLA UC Berkeley SFAI Claremont CCA Pratt Yale RISD MICA - Hoffberger & Mount Royal Parsons VCU SVA Cornell Tyler Cranbrook Univ. of Washington I feel like it's a needle in a haystack out there...so I'm not getting my hopes up too high... Good luck to everyone!
  17. I've heard good things about the Maryland Institute, College of Art 's (MICA) in Baltimore. The key is to look at the professors and see if you connect with any of their work as well as what kind of visiting artists they have. Good luck!
  18. Hi Everybody! Somehow I missed this thread ~ I'm pretty new to this forum as well ~ I am applying to 15 schools (!), had a photography friend help me take photos and just realized tonight that most of them suck! Turns out the photos were taken super huge (like 70") because he has a super duper digital camera, but they were all taken at 72 dpi, so even when I make the images smaller at 300 dpi, it just doesn't matter. So make sure when you take photos that you take them at the "Super Fine" quality setting. Of course lighting makes a huge difference as well. I think I'll be getting a different photography friend to help me next week, so I can have better images for the later deadlines (~sigh~).
  19. Applying MFA Painting:

    RISD

    VCU

    Cranbrook
