  1. So I am just starting out and I have noticed that I don't need to be actually on campus 5 days a week. More like 4. As the years go on, do people find themselves on campus less? Even to the point of 2 or 3 days a week?
  2. I have some questions about the last few years of a math phd. During the first two years there are required classes and exams, so it sounds a lot like the college schedule I am familiar with. Once the those two years are over and you get caught up in research, how often do you need to be on campus? Is it possible to set up your TA schedule and advisor meetings to only be on campus for say Mon-Tues-Wed, and then work from home the other days?
  3. Does anyone know much about the relative strength of Canadian math PhD programs? I'm thinking about applying to University of Toronto, University of British Columbia, and/or McGill. How competitive is the admissions process? Thanks.
  4. Hi. The title says it all, do I have a shot at getting into math phd programs at any of these schools with funding. Rutgers-Newark, U of Colorado, U of Oregon, Cincinnati, U of Washington, Temple, Drexel, Bryn Mawr, Northeastern, BC, George Washington, Pitt. me: undergrad math major at excellent liberal arts school 3.3 GPA math masters degree at pretty good university 3.9 GPA no research experience/published stuff excellent, excellent GRE general scores horrible GRE math subject score (580-33%) should have good letters of recommendation Thanks for any advice. I'm getting nervous over here.
