  1. I'm not sure about RWBG, but for me it was via email - just a form letter with an "acceptance by" date and details of funding (or the lack thereof).
  2. Just got my letter from NYU - rejected from PhD (duh), accepted into master's (without funding). Good grief.
  3. I worked up the courage to call and no one answered, which I'm thinking is maybe a sign that I should just wait (that or the lady was at lunch).
  4. I can say that as an American who has all international degrees (the UK), the application date for one of my schools was a month earlier than 'domestic' students. Unless you've had your degrees 'translated' (though something like World Education Service), I would imagine it might take longer. Have you seen results posted for the schools to which you've applied? Also, has anyone heard anything from NYU? If I haven't heard by tomorrow morning I think I'm going to call. The 15th is definitely "mid-February".
  5. I was thinking along very similar lines myself. If I am locked out, for whatever reason, do I re-apply, or just let things lie for a while? I too have already finished my MSc, so that also isn't a place of improvement for me. But I don't think there's any such thing as a record that can't be improved. GRE scores can (almost) always go up, and there is always room for more intern or work experience, publications, or presentations in your area. Also, as is so often said, applications are currently at an all-time-high place. As the unemployment rate drops (and apparently it's now at a two and a half year low), application numbers should drop as well, which may mean slightly better chances next year. I don't know, hopefully this is just a theoretical for both of us. But I wouldn't take the Northwestern decision to spell doom, not at all - as we all know, admissions decisions often follow little logical rhyme or reason.
  6. I know, last year they were posted by Tuesday. I'm aware it's only Thursday now, but two days is a lot of waiting time. Maybe because of all the snow they lost a meeting day or something?
  7. Gah! Well first off, congratulations!! I somehow misread your reply and hadn't realized it was you who was accepted. And, secondly, thanks - though it is decidedly feeding the (aptly described) troll, I now have an excuse ready for when my friends/family/pedestrians shout at me for being glued to my phone.
  8. And logically this would stop me from waking up in the middle of the night and groping around in the dark for my phone. But then I worked out the highly-convenient justification of the time difference (I'm on the west coast). And schools might send out mass emails at 7am east coast time...maybe...ok it's not very likely, but you never know! But I like the all caps, bold, underlined and italicized 'no one!!". Luckily my compulsive email checking is now totally immune to things like "logic" or "reason". I mean, c'mon.
  9. I love the thread in the Waiting forum just about the various admissions-related dreams people have had. It's always nice to know one is not alone in one's neurosis. And super good luck to you too secretly_yes (and to all of us).
  10. I definitely know what you mean (as I think most of us do). It just bugs me that things are so totally in limbo. I've woken up the last two nights at six in the morning (after dreaming about getting admissions letters, I kid you not) to check my email. But at least it will all be over in a few weeks, and then in the Fall we'll all be in school laughing about this process (probably in between tears at the insane grad student workload, but victory is victory: ).
  11. I spent an embarrassingly long time going through the 2010 admissions forum yesterday, and it looks like most of the Ivies sent out letters in the third/fourth week of February. So another week or so 'til Dun Dun Dun time.
  12. Thanks: ) Hopefully we'll both get good news this week.
  13. Congratulations to everyone that's been admitted! For those of us still waiting - has anyone heard from NYU? The department website FAQ states "admissions offers are typically made by mid-February" which of course means I'm freaking out. But after much obsessive reading, I haven't seen anything posted here yet. Anyone?
  14. I've also started piano! In addition to teaching myself to knit, finding new and ever-more fattening things to bake, and reading tons, often in the evenings before bed. Essentially I've become an old woman. If the decisions themselves don't crush my youth, I'm pretty sure the waiting will!
