    Book List

I am about a year or so away from applying to Masters programs, I am thinking Medieval/History of Christianity. Any essential Books/Theologians I should be reading??

Thank you, thank you! those answers were extremely helpful...I already feel less stressed. I am ABSOLUTELY in the "You don't have a clue yet but the Middle Ages are just that awesome" category as of now. I am hopeful that will soon change. I am also from Boston so BC is relatively high on my list I do know that I would like to eventually pursue a PhD. I can't really imagine wanting to stop at the Masters level.

I went to CUA undergrad and loved my theology classes but never thought of making a go at declaring it as my major. Now, as a Grad student in LIS (library and info science) I am thinking that i really want to go and get a second Masters in Theology. As of now I have 3 years of Italian and one year of Latin...I know I can study up and get those two up to par but are there any others specifically I would need to have? I am think Medieval/History of Christianity. Thanks!

Does anyone have suggestions for apartments off campus, not in Tigerland, and accessible from public transportation? I do not want to live in a super loud/crazy apartment complex BUT I also do not have a car. THANKS!!

Wow, FingersCrossedX this is super helpful! I still feel so lost though when looking through apartment listings - craigslist has nothing! Also, any suggestions on finding a roommate that is not a crazy undergrad? <-- obviously a question for people who attended or are attending LSU. Thanks!
  8. I got into LSU today and will be accepting! Is anyone else going?
  9. Would anyone be willing to look at my final draft of my SOP? Any and ALL comments/critiques welcome.
  10. Thanks for your help. I am applying to Masters programs in Library Science so research is not part of the SOP. I have changed it around a bit and kept the explanation to a minimum. Hopefully I can find a friend or two to look over it and make sure its perfect. Again, thanks for both of your input.
  11. with explanation of discrepancies...is it a no go?
  12. It is short, a page double spaced for now - just a rough draft.
  13. Would anyone be willing to look at my statement of purpose? I have a rough draft that is about a page double spaced. Thanks!
  14. I am trying to fit my purpose into one neatly typed page for LSU. They have asked: A one-page essay stating your purpose and goals in applying to our program. In your statement, include the nature of your interest, how you became interested in this field, your short-and long-term goals, the strengths that you would bring to the information profession, and how the SLIS program will help meet your career and educational objectives. This essay will be included in the evidence on which the admission decision is based. My question is...what distinguishes between long and short term goals? In the short term I would love to graduate with a Masters inLibrary and Information Science and work in an academic, collegiate library. Iwas attracted to LSU because of its specialty in this branch of librarianship --- how does that differ from a long term goal? Also, my GPA is not great 2.9 - I was working full time and could not manage school and work effectively in undergrad. I took 3 classes last semester and improved drastically along with working - Do I disclose this? Thanks!!
  15. So glad you started this topic! I am applying to LSU and Arizona (winter 2012 - they dont accept new students in the fall). LSU is definitely my first choice because they have a dual masters program with LS and History.
  16. Thanks so much, I have gone ahead and emailed the dean! Really appreciate your response!!
  17. Is it ridiculous to still consider applying to a dual MA program in SLIS and History? Also, how hard are these schools to get into - I am reaching dead ends everywhere I look for statistics and information. Thanks!
  18. I am applying to LSU for a dual masters program and I am relying pretty heavily on getting financial aid, HOWEVER, there is a question that asks "Does your enrollment at LSU depend upon receiving such aid" --- will it hurt my chances if I say yes? Any thoughts? HELP! Thanks, S
