This is probably medium news for you -- someone on filmschool forums got in to Northwestern, and I was rejected after an interview, so you're almost certainly waitlisted.
Obviously not the best possible outcome, but still a huge accomplishment, and if you haven't been rejected, that means that you still have a shot! They're probably waiting on people to accept/decline their offers.
According to some posts on filmschool, NYU is one of the few schools where the interview requests do go out in batches -- I saw someone get an interview request as early as last Friday, I got mine on Monday, and now you! It seems to be that different professors are doing different sets of interviews.
I have not heard anything from UCSD, nor have I heard of anyone hearing anything.
I did hear from USC that they haven't made any decisions, and they only promised to make first-round decisions by April 1st. So if the California schools are at all aligned, we may not hear from UCSD for a bit.
