Hey all! I was waitlisted at a school a few weeks ago and sent a short response thanking them for the update and expressing enthusiasm for the program (but I didn’t say that it was my top choice, bc it wasn’t at the time). Now circumstances have changed and it has become my top choice/I’d be very likely to go if accepted. Would it be appropriate/help my chances to email them again and say that? I want to make my enthusiasm clear, but I don’t want to hurt my chances by bugging them too much. (I’m also considering an offer from another school, which I could mention if that would help…)

hello! I got waitlisted at one of the schools I applied to (yay!) and would like to respond something along the lines of “thanks for keeping me in consideration/I continue to be excited about this program” just to show that I’m still interested. is that advisable, or would a response like that imply that I would definitely go if admitted (which is not necessarily true)? I don’t want to burn the bridge if I am admitted to this school and don’t end up going, but I do like their program and want to keep my options as open as possible… including by getting admitted if I can lol

YUP. My partner and I are both trans and feeling pretty limited in terms of where we'd feel safe moving (we're in NY right now). Iowa has been a dream forever but would be so hard to justify at this point that I'm starting to hope the choice is made for me.🫠 I applied to a couple Canadian programs (UBC and UVic) and am crossing my fingers hard for those, although neither is fully funded and I think they're kind of a long shot—UVic only accepts one student/genre/year and UBC's app required samples in two genres, so I had to half-ass some poetry in addition to my usual fiction, lol. Good luck to everyone—hope we all start getting some clarity (and hopefully good news) this week! Side note, is the link to past years' admission results not working for anyone else? I keep getting an error message when trying to access it.
