  1. i asked the tarot if i'll get accepted off the 'cuse waitlist and drew the tower...twice. not sure how to feel about that.
  2. Does anyone know how long the Minnesota waitlist is? And/or if it's ranked?
  3. Nothing from NMU yet. They weren't even my top school, it just feels so much worse when you live in the same town as the school for some reason 😭.
  4. Anyone else make the mistake of falling in love with a program they're waitlisted at? Syracuse was always a top choice for me, but since I got waitlisted I've been doing even more research on the school and the town, and now I think I'll be absolutely devastated if I don't make it off that list.
  5. If I ever feel like time is moving too fast and life is passing me by, I'll just apply for an MFA again. The past 4 months have dragged on like nothing else.
  6. Only schools I am still waiting to hear from are NMU and UVA. Looks like there is a UVA acceptance reported on Draft, but considering how many waitlists I'm on, another one would come as no surprise 🥲. I don't think NMU ever notifies later than mid-March. Ready to just know where I'm at for all of these schools so that Uncertainty Round II can begin as we all play the waitlist shuffle. Also, if you're on the WVU waitlist and were wondering, I found out that it IS ranked, though they didn't tell me how long the list is.
  7. Anyone hear anything from Northern Michigan? Haven't seen anything in draft but I know it's not the most highly applied-to program, so it's possible no one on draft has applied there (besides me!). They're a little later than usual.
  8. Being on 4 waitlists is really starting to get to me. I feel badly that I can't give the acceptance I'm considering an answer, though I know it's my right and they haven't been pushy. It's already been a long 4 months waiting on some answers, and I know these waitlists are likely to shift right up to the deadline. It's rough--I was really hoping to know all my options by now and start planning ahead. Still waiting on UVA and NMU, too, but that almost feels less stressful than watching the waitlists.

  10. So I made a mistake and I'm wondering if it tanked my chances on two waitlists. When I got waitlisted at Minnesota at the beginning of this month, they were genuinely my top choice, so I let them know in a polite email that I would like to stay on the waitlist as they were my number one choice. I was so surprised to get waitlisted at Syracuse yesterday that in all the excitement I sent them basically the same email. I'm realizing that I told two schools they're my top choice. Could this actually get me struck from these waitlists?
  11. I'm waiting on Northern Michigan and UVA. NMU would be cool because I already live here, and my friends, family, and partner are here/close by. Funding-wise, though, I'm on waitlists with significantly better offers, and that obviously plays a big role. I wouldn't be able to bring my partner along, as he still has 1.5-2 years left in his PhD here. But given that we're both pursuing degrees in completely different fields, we both knew that some period of separation would be likely when we started dating, so we're prepared. Funny enough, getting a pet would be something I could look forward to if I moved elsewhere! That's sort of easing the difficulty of leaving my friends/partner/family for a while. It's *extraordinarily* difficult to find pet-friendly housing in Marquette because we're in the middle of a serious housing crisis here. So regardless of whether or not I get into NMU, I plan to reach out to those who do get accepted to help them navigate the housing market here.
  12. On 3 waitlists now. Hoping the chances are pretty decent that at least one of those will move in my favor within the next 6 weeks 🥲. These are 3 of my 4 top choices, I'm very happy but sooooooo stressed.
  13. Thank you for letting me know! Any information feels so vital at this point, I'm sure you can relate haha. I wish you the very best at ASU, I hope you have an incredible time!
  14. Waitlisted at WVU, which is another school I'd LOVE to go to! So happy, so grateful and honestly in shock after receiving rejections across the board last time I applied! Only thing that's rough is knowing this might drag out the waiting period a little longer. The uncertainty is really killing me, I'm having so much trouble focusing at work--wish I could have all my options on the table now and just make the decision.
  15. I'd like to know people's thoughts on whether or not to take a chance on a new program. I got accepted at Texas Tech with almost full tuition remission (I think I would owe ~$1400 per semester) and a TA appointment with a $15,500 stipend. Pros: The funding is pretty nice compared to other programs, at least from what I’ve seen. Cost of living in Lubbock seems to be reasonable. The faculty have been incredibly kind, responsive, and seem excited to work with me. Three of them reached out separately to congratulate me and say what they liked about my work. Some of their writing interests also seem to align very well with my own. I know that TTU is a respected university and that they have an established English department, including an MA program that I’ve heard good things about. Cons: Obviously, it’s a new program, so it doesn’t have the associated prestige. And although it's much more than just a tech school, I do worry that it having 'Tech' in the name makes it seem like it's not an artsy school--will someone look at my resume someday and wonder why on earth I'd go there for an MFA? It’s also very, very far from home for me (I live in far northern Michigan), which makes the risk feel, well, riskier. So far, my only other acceptance is unfunded, so I won’t be taking that offer. I’m waitlisted at my top choice and still waiting on the rest. So there’s a lot of room for things to change. Maybe a super obvious decision will fall into my lap. But until then, I figured I might as well start contemplating my next moves rather than sit here going nuts with anxiety.
  16. all I see at the moment are fiction acceptances!
  17. Good question. It took 9 days after acceptances rolled out for me to get my waitlist from Minnesota, so Syracuse is still within that range. I think mid-March would be a reasonable time to reach out.
  18. Continued radio silence from Syracuse has me gnawing at the bars of my enclosure
  19. CSU, UVA, Syracuse (still!), Northern Michigan, Georgia College. Assuming Notre Dame and WVU are waitlists or soft rejections at this point.
  20. I got all rejections save for one waitlist my first round, to my dream school (where I have been waitlisted yet again, go figure), and the final rejection from them didn't come until nearly April 15th. So it was about 4 months of holding onto hope as my odds dwindled. Getting that rejection crushed me, and it took me a year to decide to apply again, but I'm so glad I did. Even if I hadn't gotten any acceptances this year, redoubling my efforts and trying for a second round made me a much better writer. In the end, that's the most important thing.
  21. I am kinda climbing the walls over here waiting to hear from Syracuse (fiction). I'm assuming I was not rejected, since it looks like all of those were sent out days ago. Could they actually be doing acceptances after rejections? Does that ever happen? Or should I be expecting a waitlist? And when 😭? Feels weird being so miserable about this since either an acceptance or a waitlist would count as good news...I just really, really want to know which one! Applying there was for sure my biggest reach.
