yes!!!! ugh!!!! was told i’m at the top of the waitlist and the director said if i can hold off on any other decisions she may have good news for me in the next “few days,” but that was on the 15th😭😭😭😭😭 i’m dying

i’m waitlisted for fiction

this is a REACH of a question but does anyone know anything about the status of the IU Bloomington cohort? i’m just curious if anyone has any information about how it’s shaking out so far in terms of committed students or movement

i can’t speak to their MFA but i attended SLC as an undergrad and studied writing. i don’t know much about columbia, so i can only speak to SLC, but what i will say is that SLC has phenomenal writing faculty. many of the MFA professors also teach undergrad, so i got to know a number of them. i do not think you will find such supportive and enthusiastic professors at columbia. because SLC is small and intimate, you are able to get a lot of personal attention from faculty, which is wonderful with writing. columbia may have incredible faculty but my guess is they have slightly less time and opportunity to offer individualized support (i could very well be wrong about that). the MFA cohort always seemed quite lovely to me, though i’m sure some of them are not as outstanding. all in all, i think you’d get great support on your writing goals and find a welcoming community at SLC. and if it’s half the cost, well…. anyway, best of luck in your MFA and i hope that whichever school you choose serves your needs perfectly!

i’ve been thinking the same thing and i don’t know if it’s just because i wasn’t on any waitlists last year or if it really is very different this year😭

congrats!!!! that reflects very highly!!! i wish my waitlists were ranked 😭 that seems like a slightly less awful basis for the waiting lol

sitting in a weird place right now with no acceptances, but two waitlists. i have three schools i have yet to hear from, but i know at least one of them is a rejection and none are acceptances (still hoping for a waitlist or two). this whole waiting process is so difficult, and now to have it prolonged indefinitely while not having anything to fall back on or any sense of security is not a great feeling lol. anyway on the one hand i’m happy to have been placed on two waitlists for programs i love, but man those nine rejections (so far) and the knowledge that i won’t be getting any acceptances this year (my second round) is ROUGH. if anyone else is in a similar spot with waitlists but no acceptances, i’m mentally patting u on the back in solidarity😭

may i ask how you know this? just curious since you seem to have such definitive information

it seems like IU Bloomington just sent out a second round of waitlists weeks after the first ones… is this a normal thing that happens?? i thought schools usually send waitlists out at once, so i’m a bit confused and wondering if anyone has any insight!!

does anyone know if not getting an interview with notre dame automatically funnels you into a rejection? or is there some anomaly where even without an interview one may end up waitlisted (probably not accepted?? idk)??

sitting at 0a/2w/7r/5p and trying desperately to hold onto hope… very hard to believe that i have a chance of getting Any acceptances at this point, but trying to remind myself that it only takes one (and some people i know got rejected at every school except one Top Program, so…). idk man, this is tough

there’s already an acceptance on draft! and someone very credibly said they would be going out this week (meaning up until today i think)

does anyone know if UC Irvine has sent everything out already? i know it was said that they will be sending acceptances this week. do we have confirmation (or an inkling….) that those are done? i know they are a school that asks students not to share acceptances, but i’m still grasping at straws, i can’t help it!!

i did! after almost dying of anxiety for like two weeks straight i got a waitlist. i don’t know if they’ve sent many rejections yet or not ?? i think i saw one rejection on draft a while ago but none since then…. idk man i wish schools didn’t draw things out like this it’s bad for our health

i cannot decide if it is comforting to have heard nothing from UC Davis (as opposed to having been rejected already) as that means i could still get less-bad news… but MAN PLEASE JUST TELL ME😭
