As an admitted student to the fiction program, I signed up to visit a class at Columbia. A day or two later, I got a voicemail from a faculty member offering to speak to me about the program and an invitation to call them back. I'm aware of the criticisms of Columbia’s MFA program in particular, as well as those surrounding Columbia at large, and they weigh heavily with me. That said, I’m wondering about the etiquette of returning this faculty member’s call. Thank you in advance!

Is the Fiction cohort 60-70 for each incoming class? What are the upsides and downsides of being part of such a large cohort? And what is your sense of why the program has been 'life-changing'? Thank you in advance!

I'm in the same boat re: NYU v. Columbia. Can you say a bit more about the differences? How does Columbia help you build a strong CV faster, etc.?
