  1. I'm currently reading Goethe's Faust for a German class. Well, a couple nights ago (after I had a brief interview with one of my schools earlier that day), I had a dream/nightmare that I was in grad school. Faust and/or Mephistopheles was a professor in my program. Perhaps drinking Arbor Mist that night was a bad plan...
  2. This is helpful advice...which I appreciate since I was just asked earlier today for an interview (or "informal conversation" as I was told) later this week. Excited? Terrified? Why yes, yes I am.
  3. I just finished my last application! (Well, almost...I still have to mail my writing sample to CUNY because they don't accept digital copies) This feels like an appropriate way to end 2010. Hopefully 2011 will be a successful year for all of us with many acceptances.
  4. While a paper on ancient art would probably be ideal, your other paper would probably be fine as long as you address the issue (the paper itself and/or your switch in research interests) in your SOP.
  5. Hey, Hicks! I think we are all probably too busy working on applications, SOPs, and writing samples for too much discussion to be happening right now! Haha. I'm sure it'll pick up once we are all waiting out the admissions process (and going a bit stir crazy). Anyways, I'm interested in postwar Western Europe/America, especially identity issues (gender mostly, but also nationality). I'm applying to Chicago, Michigan, Northwestern, Bryn Mawr, Pittsburgh, CUNY, WIlliams (MA), and UC-Irvine (Visual Studies PhD). Anyways, I'm still an undergrad from a small liberal arts college. My GRE scores aren't as high as yours (620V/690m/5.0w) and my gpa falls in between your undergrad and grad gpa (3.78), but I'm hoping my SOP and writing sample make up for it. This whole process is certainly nerve wracking!
  6. Have you looked at Columbia? Their MA in Modern Art: Critical & Curatorial Studies seems like it might be right up your alley.
