  1. I'm looking for departments with 2+ world systems people. Here is what I have found: Riverside Johns Hopkins Indiana Arizona Stony Brook Santa Cruz Oklahoma Utah Any additions?
  2. Is it more selective than sociology? I'm thinking about doing an MA in geography. Only a few schools have a terminal MA in sociology. What GRE scores are needed?
  3. P.S. http://www.sociolog.com/us_links/ma_soc.html
  4. Regarding public, I know of some: Most Cal State schools Washington State SUNY-Stony Brook Oklahoma State Oklahoma U of South Carolina Colorado State Northern Arizona NM State Illinois-Chicago In your area, UT Arlington and maybe Texas A&M. Arlington has some critical theory guys that look interesting. U of Houston has a terminal MA program that seems to be placing people in strong schools. New Mexico seems to have a terminal MA too. I don't know about funding for any of these. Some of the CUNY schools have terminal MAs but they aren't funded
  5. Do UC schools favor in-state applicants? At the lower-ranked UC schools that I have looked at, most of their grad students did their undergrad at California schools. Are out-of-state tuition waivers tough to get?
  6. Broad Ripple is terrible. I live a mile from it. Its a bunch of drunk Butler students and recent grads from Indiana's state schools. Its packed, loud, smoky bars and mediocre restaurants. I don't know why people want to live there. The commute to IUPUI is 20 min, 30 min at rush hour, plus 10 min to walk from parking to class. My neighborhood, around 52th and college, is quieter, with lots of close grocery stores, and plenty of parking. Downtown is cool too. Most of the good downtown housing is on the north east and north side of it (around mass ave). Traveling east-west in Indianapolis is arduous though because you will catch absolutely every light regardless of where you are in the city.
  7. I'm sending out emails to professors at schools where I have been accepted. What do I ask? Right now I'm just asking if they are going to be there a while and if they are taking new students. What else?
  8. Is it really selective? How is it compared to their comprehensive sociology department. JW.
  9. I had a missed call from a private number and no voicemail. Any other week, I wouldn't think anything of it. Would a school leave a voicemail, or at least call without blocking the number?
  10. .
