Happens all the time. You are accepting based upon the current facts you have today. If that changes, your decision might be different. If it happens, you can politely decline letting them know your circumstances have changed. If you have to pay a deposit before you know, that's when it gets tricky, as you would likely lose your deposit. But search through the previous forums - there are many instances of just this. Do what is right for you. 😄

Haven't seen waitlists. But it's been a week and usually all acceptances are called in a week or so. From what I recall, it's usually only a day or two.

From last year's info - they call the big funding folks, then email. But the emails do extend a while.

NWP Poetry Acceptance on Draft... (and it's not me...)

There were some last year - I know Poetry had a couple, but there was at least one fiction.

So, Iowa takes a long time. Fiction first this year, and a couple of weeks later, likely Poetry, then NF. And they call at night, on weekends, whenever they have a minute. And if it is anything like last year, we will think they are done, then someone else gets a call. It is a very drawn out process, but they have a lot of people to call!

What I remember from last year is that the NYC school responses go on FOREVER! So, with a grain of salt, here's when the acceptances started last year from what I can see on the spreadsheet. Columbia: Poetry 2/24, Fiction 3/10 Hunter: NF 3/11, Fiction 3/17, Poetry?? NYU: All start 2/26 with the biggest funding packages first, then the rest trickle in.
