Just found out I am #1 on the waitlist for MIT HTC. I doubt people decline MIT acceptances, so I'm both devastated and thrilled at the same time.

I just saw someone post an acceptance to the PhD at MIT - I'm confused, in the interview I had yesterday the faculty member said they hadn't made any decisions yet.

Just wanted to update that I received a phone call yesterday from a faculty member at MIT (HTC program) and have two Zoom meetings with additional faculty members Monday/Tuesday. Has anyone else who applied to HTC at MIT heard from POIs/other faculty?

Do you know if these schools interview every applicant they accept? It's hard to tell with some programs, but nice to know so I can cross out some on my pending list (lol)

I heard from UCSB about a month ago asking if I could resend an LOR because faculty were already reviewing applications and wanted to make a final decision "soon." I'm not sure if anyone else applied there. My current advisor also told me he was contacted by USC about his LOR for me, so I think they are getting ready as well. Haven't heard anything from anywhere else yet (field is ancient Peru)
