Hello.
I am currently working on my MA in literature (I'll graduate in the spring of 2027) but am considering getting a PhD or MA in religious studies/philosophy, as I'm interested in investigating religious and philosophical thought in literature and would like to focus more on this. I'm mainly looking for general advice for moving forward.
1. What are some good programs that focus on religion, philosophy, and literature? So far, I've found the "Religion and Literature" program at the University of Edinburgh and the "Religion, Literature, and Culture" program at the University of Virginia.
2. What do religious programs usually look for in an applicant? Or, in other words, what should I be doing now to make my future application stronger? Should I be trying to take some classes with the religion program at my school?
3. Anyone who has gone from a literature degree to a religious studies degree, could you tell me a little about that experience?
4. Since my background is literature, not religion, should I be applying to PhD programs or MA programs?
5. Are there any scholars that you all know of that I should look into/read up on?
Sorry. I know these are kind of vague questions. I just feel like I'm going into this blindly and want as much info as possible
Thanks
