Hi! Looks like no waitlist movement (or acceptances yet) for WVU fiction on the draft. Not sure if acceptances just haven't been uploaded or if they haven't gone out yet, but hopefully it is the latter.

For those who got rejected/waitlisted from WVU, did your portal update with your application status? I applied fiction and still haven't heard anything back, but it still says "in review" in my portal...

I just checked my portal and it showed an update that said I had been rejected (boo). It might be different though because I'm not international. Either way, best of luck to you!

@bluecarpet @Scribe @Jitterbug98 Thank you ☹️ I also feel so silly for like running to this forum to be like "boo hoo feel bad for me" so I appreciate the kind words. I keep reminding myself it'll be okay but I always seem to forget how to do that when I receive a rejection lol.

I genuinely don't think I'm going to get even a single waitlist. Like, not to be that person that just complains, but there are only like two more schools that I haven't heard from yet that haven't already sent out waitlists. Idk, just feels embarrassing to be rejected from 15 different programs. And like, I know getting rejected doesn't mean I'm a bad writer, but getting rejected from FIFTEEN programs has got to mean something.

Do we know how many waitlists Virginia Tech sends out for fiction?

Yes. One thousand percent yes. I've only gotten rejections (and a few soft-rejections) and I just feel so silly for thinking I could do this. However, I'm trying so hard to remember that a rejection doesn't necessarily mean I'm not good enough; sometimes programs are looking for something else, and that doesn't mean that my writing is bad, just not the right fit. I think it's really important to try to stay positive and hopeful, but it also seems impossible to do so. Anyway, just know you're not alone in feeling like that, and you're certainly not the only person who is going through this horribly disheartening process.

I'm in the exact same boat as you rn. This is so horrible! I'm desperately hoping for some form of good news, it's genuinely so hard to have a positive outlook on things.

Did anyone else apply for fiction at the University of South Florida? I'm hoping the reason I didn't get an email is because they're doing it by genre (only poetry entered on the spreadsheet so far) but may be delusional lollll
