PS I am a MUCH older student, I was a veterinarian, medical researcher and disabled from a brain infection. It sounds like a Woody Allen movie: I am dyslexic and have ADHD and write. I have hit a wall with my memoir that introduces hospice care for pets as an alternative to euthanasia. I need to elevate my craft to the quality of my stories! FWIW when I inquired to programs about applying, they all said they would welcome an application like mine. But, also, as many have said here : it’s about the writing first. 90% mine needs help, so you have to be in some institution-specific definition of showing excellent chance of being a successful writer, great promise at least, and benefiting from the degree. On the other hand, I cannot imagine them saying someone who is already an accomplished writer is “too good” to be admitted! Good luck to everyone. You are committed to your writing by even subjecting yourself to this traumatic process! I, for one, defined precisely WHY I write, and WHAT I WANT TO SAY after writing 7 SOP! I am rooting for you all! ❤️

Yes! I applied 6 places for full res. including U of Az (no interview), and ASU. I am now applying to Warren Wilson low res due 3/1. I am CNF and thought my apps got better but unfortunately U of A was first. I do not think I would/will get in to UofA but I had hops for ASU. I have heard nothing from any of them. Acceptances have appeared for both on Draft. I am expecting rejections now but they could wait. Still I guess my own acceptance of rejections is not as solid as I thought!

Oh wow had no idea! I lived in Houston and Rice is a great school! I think my 5 apps will have to suffice but will check it out! Thanks!

Hi! How is it going as a Senior MFA student? I am 67 applying as a post DVM writing about how our pets can teach us about dying and introducing animal hospice care. Applying to only fully funded programs where I can sell my house or rent it and bring my pets. Limits East Coast schools! I am in Arizona. Nervous now as hell, all Apps in!!!

Hi everyone! Older (much) person here finished all apps for MFA in CNF kind of freaking out since I am all done. Applying to Uof AZ, ASU, U of MT, U of Idaho and UNCW for various reasons…just now feeling the freak out!
