  1. Thanks for sharing your experience about Boston and Cambridge its always helpful to hear different perspectives, especially for those of us trying to get a better feel for the area before moving. One thing I’ve noticed is how manageable the city feels despite being so academically and culturally active. Between the T walking, and occasional private car services (I once came across a discussion mentioning Bnlboston Limo while researching transportation options), there seem to be plenty of ways to get around depending on your schedule and budget. I also appreciate how each neighborhood has its own personality, whether it’s closer to the universities or along the quieter residential streets. From your experience which area would you say feels most comfortable for grad students in terms of daily living and convenience?
  2. You have really taken great care of your Mercury Sable, and its great that it has performed so well over all these years. Since, like you said you will probably always be close to campus, you could always fall back on public transport when needed, so it makes sense that you keep the car around in case you need it for longer trips out. The reliability of the 2013 Fusion is great, and you could always use it if you need a longer trip home, although it does mean a higher upfront cost. Another thing to consider is just how many longer trips in a car you will really need to make, compared to public transport in fact there are some people who even look into Boston Logan car service etc rather than needing a car for local transport. How do you feel about making repairs on your Sable in case it does break down, as compared to having a more reliable car around?
  3. I completely understand what you mean about travel influencing research, even if its not mandatory. For art history actually being in the presence of a church or viewing statues in person is a completely different experience from seeing pictures or videos. Even if you can’t travel to Russia at the moment, sometimes local museums or smaller exhibits can be just as enlightening. I have also noticed that personal travel can be a great way to influence research ideas and its obvious that your experiences in Europe have influenced your research in Religion in Modern Europe. In terms of site visits its fascinating to learn about how people use local transportation services, such as a Bnlboston Limo to visit multiple sites efficiently and allow them to focus on the art and architecture. Do you think visiting the churches in person would give you a different perspective on your thesis, or do you think detailed photos and virtual tours would allow you to get close enough?

    Worcester, MA

Hi Congratulations on getting into UMass Medical School I have lived in Worcester for a while, and I think it’s a nice city to study in. Housing near campus can range from $1,200 to $1,600 for a one bedroom, and sharing an apartment can make it more affordable. The city is generally safe, especially around the university, though like any place, it’s good to be cautious at night in unfamiliar areas. For getting around, public transport works okay, and some students find it useful to know about things like Metrowest Car Service for occasional trips outside Worcester or to Boston its just another option for getting around. With your fellowship of $25k plus fee waiver and health insurance, you should be able to manage living expenses if you budget carefully, covering rent, groceries, and transport. are you planning to live on campus first or look for off campus housing right away?
