  1. Just DM’d you! Promise I’m not actually a weird old guy, Columbo is just my pfp at the moment lol
  2. Oooh, I’m not in Draft, so I have no idea what happened there? But from everything I have seen, I get a strong sense that MO State definitely needs to iron a bunch of things out, pronto. Also having those same concerns about my work and over potentially being a part of something not quite fully fleshed out yet. 😕
  3. @taliaj I ended up emailing bc I had an application question and was told for priority consideration, to apply before April 15th because all admitted students will begin to be notified after that date. They mentioned they are still working out the timeframe for notifications, but that admitted students should be notified by the last week of April, so don’t give up hope yet! fingers crossed for us
  4. already??? i was going to apply this weekend when i had the time 🥲 now do i even bother lol
  5. while i am still choosing to be delusional and hold onto hope that i'll get in off the waitlist april 15th, i wanted to ask about y'alls' experience with applying to the same school twice (and if it has worked out for you). i am in the top spot of the waitlist for a program i definitely plan on applying for next cycle if it doesn't work out, but already i am having anxiety about "one-upping" myself next time and having being in this position this year actually be a disadvantage. writing sample-wise (poetry-specific), i do plan on using a few of my same poems (because i like them, they got me this far, and they're the kind of work i want to do in the program), but is this ill-advised? welcoming any and all thoughts about the writing sample: take two. regarding the SOP, do you touch on that if it's round two (and, if so, how to bring that up in a way that doesn't feel like attaching the eric andre let me in.jpeg)? basically, it's making me a little crazy to think that next year, my writing sample could be the exact same and with a few other factors outside of my control be different from this year, i could be accepted, but if i come back and apply without showing enough growth since this year, that it'll put me further down the list because of that. does that make sense?
  6. 🕯️welcoming everyone to join hands, willing waitlist movement into existence very soon 🕯️
  7. omg thank you!! appreciate this sm. and best of luck!!
  8. ty, was wondering this too!! was slightly confused by the portion asking about assistanceships. the program says fully funded through them, but the application makes it seem like there is a separate application process for them? do we just check “yes i am interested” and that’s that or is there more they require? the websites were not helpful last time i checked lol
  9. feeling this so much. haven’t been rejected yet, but the 1st on the waitlist email i received even said they thought they would see movement by now and haven’t. am trying to remain optimistic and even trying to get excited about applying next cycle, but rn, the thought of doing this over again is making me wince. getting SO close like this is truly maddening 🥲
  10. just needing to vent momentarily. i am in the top spot of a waitlist for a program i am very excited about and have gotten (and will most likely receive) rejections from every other program i applied for. my nerves are through the roof. i was ready to write this cycle off as all rejects but this is a kind of painful glimmer of hope that is dragging on. i am SO grateful, but also exhausted. is anyone else in a similar boat? where it’s sooooooo close and literally within reasonable reach, but still possibly impossible?
  11. if you don’t mind sharing (and if anyone else has any insight on this!), how did you get to be a reader for a literary magazine? admittedly i am very out of the loop in the literary world (something i’m trying to work on) and would love to look into doing this!
  12. Anyone else get an email from Idaho early this morning dated March 12th saying their application is still under department review and that the review “may take up to several months”? Had written Idaho off, but is there still a chance? Wondering if this is just an automated template from the graduate college for anyone with a submitted application that hasn’t yet been rejected…
  13. afraid to ask at this point, but has anyone heard anything from Idaho?
  14. thank you!! based on this, it’s looking like all rejects for me this year anyone else anticipate or know for sure they’ll be here same time next year? i’m really struggling to find the motivation atm to think about trying again.
  15. has there been anything on the draft for poetry at university of south carolina, university of arkansas, or uncg? i'm ready to gnaw my arm off, the waiting is getting to me
  16. Had the worst day at work ever and then saw someone report a U of Arizona poetry waitlist on this site with a note saying over 100 apps for two spots. Questioning why I even thought I stood a chance 🥲
  17. Also hoping Idaho! UNCG, South Carolina, Arkansas, Arizona, and McNeese State, too. Best of luck!
  18. do we think the AWP conference this week might mean decisions are more likely to hit next week instead? hoping to hear from Arizona and Idaho🤞
  19. just got the email to check the portal and received an official reject from U of Minnesota 😕 was expecting it, but what a way to start Monday
  20. Did anyone else apply to and/or get an email from Michael Robins at McNeese State? Gave me a much-needed dopamine boost during this slump, but trying to remain realistic.
  21. is there any data on when McNeese State typically notifies?
  22. womanonline, same. this was my first cycle and i've learned so much. i've been focusing on that there a number of schools i couldn't apply to this year (for various reasons: some not taking poetry apps this year, not having the time to complete every app, the financial costs of this process, etc) that i can try for next year. so, there's still potential in new places! and to take everything i've learned from this and apply it next time, that the cycle doesn't end with this cycle; it's a continuous. not sure if that's applicable to you, but i hope it provides something! i'm pretty much at the point of assuming and planning for the worst but hoping for the best. pre-grieving def made getting the official mississippi rejection easier for me. sure it stung when i got it, but mourning the loss ahead of time and on my own terms, that provided a sense of control during a process that is so very much out of our hands. i guess all that to say: maybe don't give up hope, but try letting go of it for a while. having it around but at a kind of distance has been a bit freeing, for me, at least. wishing you all the best ❤️
  23. Thanks greenleaf!! Here’s to hoping we’ll be shaking hands in Tucson this fall 🤞
  24. Hoping to hear something for poetry at University of Arizona and Idaho this week! If it's on the draft already, would someone kindly let me know? I feel like I'm that Bernie Sanders "I am once again asking" meme lol
