  1. Does anyone know how long the University of Arizona waitlist is?
  2. I am so desperate to know where miffy & mtown are gonna land! Between them there are like 20 CNF seats that will open up once they choose.
  3. I am definitely very bummed on the Iowa front-- not to be the crusher of dreams, but I do think that CNF is drastically underrepresented on the spreadsheet. For instance, at U of Arizona miffy had mentioned in notes that they interviewed 11 for CNF, but only 3 reported interviews on the sheet. In previous years on the sheet there have been at most 1-2 acceptances for Iowa NWP despite them taking 10+, and only a few dozen rejections despite presumably 300-400 being rejected. I'd also be really surprised if a waitlist had gone out prior to all acceptances going out. My delulu thought was "maybe JD clicked the wrong button on the google form and meant to put accepted". But probably, painfully, it's rejections otherwise. I would very much love to be proved wrong!
  4. When did you get into Iowa?
  5. Based on previous years that does appear to be the case. Definitely crushing. On the bright side, it looks like historically they send rejections the day after acceptances/waitlists.
  6. Haha very much same! Crossing my fingers for both of us!
  7. I am also so curious about this! I believe their cohort is ten and their program is totally separate (different director, Melissa Febos). I would assume their timeline for notifying is also separate. I am so antsy to hear back from them!
  8. @meanwhile Spoke to a few professors about this, it sounds like it is often a policy from the graduate colleges rather than the programs. They are just not allowed to send rejections until cohorts are finalized/all admits have accepted. Even in the case of a waitlist.
  9. @SocialKonstruct I would assume that “prose” can encompass nonfiction (Amherst is similar) and that people just choose to select the category most aligned with the work they submitted when filling out the draft form since there is no prose option. Didn’t apply, but per U of U website: ”The University of Utah Creative Writing Program offers a modular MFA program in poetry, fiction and nonfiction”
  10. Alright so I fully acknowledge that the “waiting insanity” has set in and there is truly no way to know when decisions will go out till they do…. BUT ANYWAY! anyone have any intel on when Iowa NWP will go out? Their website says admitted applicants will go out mid to late March but I saw that they have Welcome days scheduled for March 26-27 and a “recruit the new class” info session on Feb 24. Per the way back machine & the spreadsheet they host those events in March & April and notified March 20-21. Think this means we might hear sooner? Anyways the wait is clearly getting to me….maybe by spewing it into the world I can go back to writing instead of sleuthing.
