asked about waitlist clarity and then immediately got my official rejection lol!

yale rejection official. at least that bandaid is gone. sad but not surprised (no interview) tis what it tis. there's always next cycle! oh the woes of a playwright

any playwrights who applied to carnegie mellon? i fear my (shouldn't be needed dual enrollment) transcript got lost and they just tossed out the app entirely. if yeah, have y'all heard anything? no movement on it in the spreadsheet but julliard only started movement earlier this week

expecting a waitlist or straight rejection from columbia (playwriting) and i'm just so tired of the wait. just send me the email. put me out of my misery! its the only thing i'm waiting for before i decline my one acceptance. i know it isn't a fit, and i feel really bad because a faculty member at the uni really is fighting for me, but after talking to lots of students there, especially one in particular, i fear it both won't give me what i need as a writer AND that i'm a diversity quota acceptance (in the sense that!) just let me know if there's something to wait for columbia pleek.

sooo feel this. i'm probably going to reject the one acceptance i've gotten (there's a lot of reasons but mostly financial and i fear i'm fulfilling a diversity quota based on what a current student said), and i'm on two waitlists right now (#1 spot at one). trying to sit with the reality of deciding to not go this year/not getting off any waitlists. feels sort of embarrassing for me cause i went and told all my loved ones about the process...

if you have new information to provide, like an offer from another institution, that would impact your timeline, then yeah i'd reach out again! or if you have any questions,like asking if the waitlist is ranked and if so where you're at. but if not, i think maybe you can just hang out, as you've expressed your interest and they've likely read it.

fellow playwrights! who all are y'all waiting on? i just got waitlisted at UT and brown, but im still waiting to hear at all from three programs (yale, carnegie mellon, and columbia). i figure yale is a rejection cause i didn't get an interview request, but a confirmation would be nice! has anyone heard of people getting in to that program without an interview? CM and columbia are toss up's though. i'd love to hear where y'all are at, i feel like there's no consistency in our programs results lol

just got my first acceptance! iowa playwright's workshop! and i'm nominated for an arts fellowship and have a bunch of other scholarships i qualify for! i'm still waiting to hear back from the other two programs i interviewed for (i only just interviewed for brown today so it's gonna be a minute) but !! no matter what happens!! i'm going to school!!! i can't believe it. my only goal was to get just one interview. it's my first application cycle and i know how talented everyone is and how hard it can be to get there. i'm just. blown away. i wish this joy to everyone in this group, y'all have kept me company and sane during this process ❤️

first yale playwriting interview request just got added to the draft....let the nightmare waiting period begin...😵‍💫

i appreciate the programs i've interviewed with saying they're not going to torture me "too much" with how long they make take to reach back out again but man...something about that makes it worse because now i'm playing a fun game called "how much is too much?" three days? a week? two? someone put me out of my misery...

got a finalist notification through email from iowa!!! granted i'm a playwright so our writer's workshop is housed in a different department than fiction and poetry folks but keep your peepers peeled!!! sending so many well wishes and crossed fingers!!

yeah so ut uses that grad portal ur looking at for submission but uses the other portal (which is also used for undergrads) as results. the portal for the app is a new thing, so they'll probably move away from the old portal for results soon, but as someone who works at a public uni, that probably won't be a change that comes through for a while. too many factors for it to be a quick switch. you can find the portal with results here: https://gradschool.utexas.edu/admissions/status (click monitor my status with the little lock next to it)

oh i feel that. i did dual enrollment in high school in !2017!!!! and so many schools still wanted the transcript (only a few accepted just my ACTUAL degree transcript where the classes are also listed, just as transferred in). it was two weeks of emails and phone calls because i didnt even have a student portal anymore (as it's been almost a decade and it was four classes), and my high school had to get involved. at this point i just tell high schoolers that dual enrollment is a waste of time (for more than just this reason) and they're better off taking AP courses...

there's a screenwriting acceptance on there that says ut austin, but not specifically michener, and that they got a call and email about it, not a portal update like the rejections. could be michener but also could not be.

I work at a university full-time right now, and yeah, it's not a holiday that halts operations pretty much universally.
