The School of Arts & Sciences Newark (SASN) provides financial support through Graduate Assistantships to students in the Ph.D. program on a competitive basis. Contract terms are collectively bargained by the Rutgers AAUP-AFT
Full-time students are employed as a Graduate Assistant/Teaching Assistant (GA/TA)
Guaranteed 5 years (assuming normal progress toward degree completion)
Represented by AAUP-AFT
All TA/GA assignments are made in consultation with the Program Director
Placements take into account previous student professional and academic experiences, desired career paths, and collaboration with potential Faculty mentors
TA/GAs will not be the instructor of record until passing comprehensive exams
