Hello; Recently, I have confusion for choosing a PhD school between NCSU and ETH Zurich. My goal after doing PhD is join a company for a job. But I am an Indian citizen and I have heard that getting a job in Europe is difficult for a non-EU citizen. So my only options are North America (USA/Canada). From that perspective, will NCSU (USA) have an edge over ETH? (will USA consider a PhD from ETH the same way they will treat a PhD from NCSU?) P.S - Both professors are of similar reputation and I ike both of their work. It has all boiled down to job prospects after my PhD, Any comments will be appreciated. Thanks a lot

Hi; I got a PhD admit into ECE department of NCSU, in the area of compilers. I will be completing my Masters in Computing Science from University of Alberta, Canada. I just wanted to know how good the reputation of NCSU is in ECE. Is it a wise decision to go for this PhD after MSc from a reputed university like University of Alberta? After PhD I want to join a research lab/ R&D of a company. Please help me out. I am OK with the research being done there and also the professor, just didn't want to waste my 4 years by doing PhD from a lower ranked university than my Masters. Any help will be appreciated. Hello; I have been admitted to both Penn State and Uof Alberta (Canada) for MS in CS. I am interested in Compilers, programming languages and Software Engineering. Could you please suggest which one would be better for me if I have plans for doing PhD later? Alberta admit was a funded one but Penn State was not. @ falling_leaves - Thank you for giving the information. I was just wondering whether I should go for on campus or off-campus residence. I can see in their website that I can search for off-campus residences which are mainly private houses and are rented on a shared basis. Can you tell me how should be the transport between these residences and the university? I mean can I get bus or LRT frequently in the city even I am late from college? @Machine Learner - Yes I received TA. Did you? I applied for Software Systems, Wireless Networking. Do let me know if you are considering this university.
