Aha, because it makes me laugh that a bunch of people who are supposed to be so genius read so much into every bit of code on a fricking web site, and postulate theories every time it hiccups. So, basically, I am making fun of the idea that we are "on to something big" every time a URL changes. Thus, I say, "Ahaaaaa!" :mrgreen:

@singalong each time, broader impacts. My latest is so broad and impactful there was little room for me or for science, sadly... :roll: I actually assumed I'd get it last year, and so did all the profs who wrote recs. One en evoffered to write an angry letter on my behalf... :shock: I declined...

If I may make a comment, dysmetria: I've got 2 HMs, no wins. It looks like I am in the pool again, with no reject yet. I can tell you that I have gotten the same result from all my proposals and they have all been as different as can be from one another in terms of time spent (one I wrote in 4 hours flat, another I edited with my advisor for 3 weeks) style, and science. I think that many intangibles go into the process, and to have not won is likely not a reflection on the quality of your work, writing, record. I am sure that perhaps 2 or 3 percent of all proposals are just so amazing that they get picked easily, but the other 7-12% plus the rest that get HM are probably equally meritorious. Don't take it personally. I don't. I just want the $ and I'll get them somehow, because this is my dream.

Yeah, I'm supposed to be writing a mini-grant app for 90 grand that i am a shoe-in for and instead i'm doing this. I must be insane.

Not that I know any of you, nor do you know me, but I am truly sorry. You all seem so bright and optimistic. I feel positively misanthropic compared to most of the people on this board. I wish you all had won.

Just out of curiousity: has anyone ever heard of someone getting hm 3 years running? I'm on 2 now... A rather ignominious record.

Hello, I have two children, 4 and 6. Both are adopted. The 6-year-old was adopted at birth (6 years ago, obviously) and the 4-year-old just a few months ago. I am in the second year of a neuroscience PhD, and did my undergrad through nighttime feedings, diaper changes, and the like. I finished with a 3.95 from UVA, PBK, SCL, and have a 3.8 in my grad program (everyone gets a B at least once!). I also worked 25 hours/week my last year of UG and first year of Grad school. All this is not to toot my horn, but rather to say that it is possible. I should add that I have a wife, and that she is very supportive, and without her, I am certain I'd not have been able to achieve any of this. I sleep very little, and have to manage my time well. I have brought my son to class twice, and profs are very supportive (he's well-behaved and quiet). I also set boundaries so that I have uninterrupted time with my kids, and often go into the lab at night. Everyone is different. This might work for you, and it might not. If you have serious doubts, consider that another person, your child, will be depending upon you for more than just 3 meals a day and a bed. They need love, and time, too. You'll do the right thing.
