So I guess I'm not the only one still waiting to get info about stipend payments, benefits, registration etc. I'm going into the Brain and Cognitive Science program in the Psych dept and they've yet to be very helpful. For example the graduate coordinator couldn't give me an exact amount for fees not covered by the tuition remission, they just said "It's never been more than 300 dollars or so". This did not impress me. And now that PA is potentialy cutting funding for Temple by 25 percent I worry the bureaucratic ineptitude might get worse, argh. As far as housing I'm thinking of living in Manayunk or University City, both are look affordable. I hear Fairmount is very nice but it seems a bit more expensive. Anyone have any thoughts about commuting safety, such as taking the regional rail/ broad st line at night? I have a feeling I won't be spending late nights in the library haha.
  3. Ok, so I've been admitted to UNC and Temple (Behavioral Neuroscience). I like both potential PI's and both programs seem good so I'm having a tough time making a decision. I'm from Jersey so Temple is definitely more in my comfort zone geographically speaking and I felt a bit more comfortable with the "attitude" of the grad students in the lab, ie it seems a bit higher pressure/faster paced (I've been working in industry for while and I'm more accustomed to that). Moving to Chapel Hill would definitely be a big change and the attitude of the whole program seems a bit more laid back and relaxed, but the research is a bit more niche and interesting to me. I’m basically weighing Temple, (familiar location, very promising research but out of my primary interest, good click with grad students) vs UNC (great town and surrounding area, research I’m very interested in, but perhaps a bit niche, less of a click with lab but felt pretty comfortable with them). I know UNC is on paper a better school, but I’m thinking that matters very little compared to the work that’s done so I’m not worried about that. Let me know what you think!
  4. Hey, congrats on UC Boulder. I'm still hoping, but we shall see. Perhaps the behavioral neuroscience program has a different time frame for interviews... or not, but this is what I'll tell myself good luck.
  5. Hey Imwright, I'm interested more in pharmacology/behavioral neuro, but I looked through your list and I'm interviewing at Temple (Brain and Cognitive Sciences) next week. I also applied to Colorado at Boulder, but have yet to hear anything from them. Good luck!
  6. Yeah, I've still not heard anything either. Looks like some people have gotten interviews in the results section, oh well.
  7. Hey, Anybody apply to the Behavioral Neuroscience program (Psychology Dept) at UC Boulder? I'm curious if anyone has heard back regarding interviews.
