  1. Looks like they are willing to foot the bill for transport (including a plane ticket if I lived far away!). Man these consulting firms are so ritzy! Still though I'm hoping a PhD program gets back to me before then so that I'm not wasting either of our time and money if things go that way. I also have this horrible fear of being offered an excellent job and then not being able to justify living in poverty as a PhD student for the next 5 years.
  2. Yeah I mean I have one interview scheduled already. I just don't want to put myself in a position where I need to decline a job before I even hear back from schools! Nothing new today either. Did anyone else see the news about they maybe cutting back mail service to 5 days instead of 6? That would make waiting even worse!
  3. Would that I could.. but I actually don't even have a license
  4. The waiting is killing me mainly because there are so many other things I could be applying for right now! I mean what if I don't get in and then I've missed all these other opportunities!
  5. Oh schools, please hurry up! I sort of applied to be a fellow with a fancy government consulting firm thinking that they would take a long to review the applications and I'd know something from schools by then, but NO. So now I have an fellowship interview from 8am to 2pm (assuming I even find a way to make it out to McLean, VA without a car) and I still have no word on schools... grumble!
  6. It looks like there are some PhD applicants on that board you linked to if you look in the main fall 09 applicant thread. Not really many admissions yet though for PhD's, and nothing that made me excited at least. I'm torn between JHU and UNC-CH as my top choice. Both because of one particular professor at the school I want to study with. Seriously though, I'm pretty sure that wherever I get in will pretty rapidly become my top choice just by way of rationalization. I'm really hoping to hear from JHU soon! I mean a good number of the MPH results are going out, so PhD can't be far behind! right?!
  7. I spend my day at work checking gradcafe every half an hour or so (or more). Then run to the mailbox at home. When I'm not at work I'm in class, which is probably the one point of the day I'm not freaking out about acceptances. Although I do find myself daydreaming about various outcomes though!
  8. The political management degree at GW is not at all an MPA. It's tailored for people who actually want to work in politics generally speaking. They also have a degree in legislative affairs that is somewhat similar but targeted specifically to people who want to work on the Hill or be lobbyists. My impression is that they are highly regarded for what they are, which is an applied political degree rather than a policy one.
  9. yeah there is a status field on the actual application status page.
  10. bah, no update on my online status at least. I think JHU was Feb last cycle, but was Jan the one before that based on the posted results, so who knows.
  11. I'm at GW now for the MPP and I seriously love it. The program has treated me really well and the professors I've had to date have all been engaging (with the exception of 1 that's easy to avoid). The main difference between the 3 programs (AU, GW, and Gtown) is the graduation requirements. GW for example doesn't have a thesis, they have a capstone where you actually go out and use your skills in the community. Also some programs require more quant than others. My impression is also is that people in DC thing well of GW. There are alumni in a lot of pretty nice spots downtown.
  12. I know that the GW apps have gone to the committee for review at least based on email exchanges with the dept.
  13. First JHU result on the board!! I wonder if the PHD results are going out at the same time as the MPH ones?
  14. I'm going to run around in cicles, wave my arms in the air, call friends and family, and then go out to dinner and gloat at how awesome I am.
  15. really? If it's as easy as that I might be ok. Should I ask first and then attach it to an email? Or just send it and hope for the best?
  16. What kind of cosmic joke is it when you get your first publication accepted after all your applications (but one, thank goodness) are already turned in! Or that I've been chosen to help with reviewing abstract submissions for a major conference? Sigh! Does anyone else find that awesome things are happening once it's too late to mention them?! I'm sure all these things will come in handy if I get in... but jeez!
  17. I can state for a fact that both of you are more qualified than the average applicant for AU and GWU's MPP programs at least. At least in regards to your stats.
  18. Health Policy PhD here. Also very nervous!! I feel like I should be applying to all these fellowship programs just in case I don't get in... also checking my JHU app twice a day isn't helping my stress level! I applied to 5 schools so here's to hoping!
