  1. I got a e-mail from the India Fulbright Office. It was rather strange. 1) " You mayemail/FEDEX/fax your bank information to Mr. Neeraj Goswami (neeraj@usief.org.in)so that we can write your official grant award document." Wait they want me to send them my banking details before they tell me what my official grant award entails? I haven't seen any details on the stipend.
  2. i'm in North Carolina. My letter was postmarked 4/8/2011. I will be based in Varanasi.
  3. OMG!!!! OMG!!!! Just received a large manila envelope . I won a Full Grant to India!!!!!! I am over the moon.!
  4. This comment is totally uncalled for. Crimson is doing an awesome job and I for one am really grateful to him for keep continually fixing the spreadsheet.
  5. It seems that the ETA's for India are getting results. http://blog.al.com/live/2011/04/uab_krish_varma_fulbright_scholar.html I wonder when they will send out letters to the others?
  6. Why are all the India finalists so quiet? I am also wondering why one applicant was informed that he/she was accepted long before the rest of us?
  7. I don't know what this means , but Dukepress sent a tweet on the 24th Of March saying: "Congrats! MT @cmcgranahan: got Fulbright for new project: Refugees & Citizenship: Tibetan Practices of Pol. Subjectivity in Postcol. India" But to me it seems to imply that some people have already been notified that they have won a Fulbright award to India?
  8. Italia2011: The bad news is that being a grad is actually not an advantage in winning a Fulbright award. In 2009 - 49% of the winners were undergrads, with another 31% being PhD students the balance were MA students. Good luck though!
  9. You are completely correct I think. I believe they want a copy of your current transcript as well as one from any institution that you received a prior degree from? I quote from the e-mail I received: "Pleasearrange to have official transcripts from your currentacademic institution (if enrolled) and allinstitutions from which you received a Bachelor’s or Master’s or doctoraldegree sent to: OFFICIAL TRANSCRIPTSU.S. StudentProgramsInstitute of International Education809 United Nations PlazaNew York,NY 10017 IIE mustreceive these transcripts by March 1, 2011 at the latest in order for you tocontinue to be considered for a 2011-12 Fulbright grant." .
  10. Nescafe: I totally agree with your analysis! Last year I applied - I have a 4.0 GPA had great affiliation letters an awesome research plan. I was positive I was a shoe in for the Fulbright. BUT due to optimal space utilization in my essays I had omitted most of my non-academic intent and was rejected in the first round. Also my research area had the potential to be controversial in the country I selected.
  11. Ryan B: If you send me an e-mail address I could possibly put you in contact with some of the senior players in the anti-apartheid movement (especially in the ANC) Can't promise you Mandela but I do have a friend who works for him.
  12. Rachaelski: NOOOOO ! As I said to Albanski give it another shot next year!
  13. I just got an e-mail . Research finalist in India. Albanski: This is my second year of applying - last year I was rejected in the first round. Ryan B : Where in South Africa are you going?
  14. Rachaelski: Madame Cleo sees you crossing many waters to do your research on a Fulbright!
  15. I think "Congrats" are in order - I can't imagine her being "pleased with the results" if you didn't get through to the next round.
