  1. Hi, thanks, and congrats to you too. I will join HKS MPP, what about you?

  2. HI congrats on your acceptances......so where r u planning to join????

  3. Hi, I'm sort of on the same boat with pritinsp. Now I'm choosing between HKS MPP and Maxwell MPA. I'm thinking of working for NGOs after graduation, and will maybe persue a phd degree in public policy/social policy/public affair several years later. Pros for HKS: - A great school name - Public Policy courses might help me if i want to persue phd study Pros for Maxwell: - Only one year, save a loooot of time and money - More contact with profs Advice will be greatly appreciated!
  4. Accepted by MPP, and my stats: Undergrad Major: International Affairs (no economic or quantatitive courses at all) GPA 3.76 (major 3.9) GRE V610+Q780+3.5, Toefl 107 Several internships in local NGOs, worked as an international volunteer in India for 6 weeks. no professional working experience (now a senior undergrad student) As for advice, I do think that recommendation letter is very very important.
  5. Just got the admission of HKS MPP! The financial aid will be released by Apr 1st. I'm still not sure if i should go to Syracuse with probably full tuition scholarship, or should i attend HKS, who might not give me much scholarship?
  6. Thx and congrats to you too! Well I think it might because Chinese students are usually good at test..?
  7. Thx. I posted my profile in the "MPP/MPA 2011 Applicants", you can have a check if you want. Well my GPA is 3.76/4.0, Major 3.9/4.0, GRE 610+780+3.5, TOEFL 107. No professional working experience, but interned in 3 NGOs and did a volunteer project in India. And I finished my application before Nov.
  8. No, I'm from a not very famous university in shanghai.
  9. I got the offer from CIPA this morning, saying that i'm admitted, and was granted $23,000 per year. By the way, I'm also an international student, about to graduate from undergraduate school by June 2011. And good luck to everyone~
  10. THX! I submitted everything in late October, and my three rec letters were also completed and submitted by then. Maxwell is rolling i guess?
  11. just accepted by Maxwell MPA, scholarship will be notified on March.
  12. Program Applied To (MPA, MPP, IR, etc.): MPP/MPA Schools Applied To:HKS(mpp), UCLA(mpp), USC(mpa), Cornell(mpa), Syracuse(mpa) Undergraduate institution: an international univ Undergraduate GPA: 3.75 (major 3.9/4.0) Undergraduate Major: international relations GRE Quantitative Score: 780 GRE Verbal Score: 610 GRE AW Score: 3.5 Years Out of Undergrad (if applicable): 0 directly apply as a senior univ student Years of Work Experience: 0 Describe Relevant Work Experience: No full-time working experince, but have several internships: conducted a project in India as an international volunteer for slum children educational fund raising; project manager in a small foreign NGO in China, interned in another two local NGOs in China. And tons of volunteer experience. Strength of SOP (be honest, describe the process, etc): i talked about some experinces in the field in sop, and explained my commitment to NGO and my understanding to the cross-sector collaboration. Strength of LOR (be honest, describe the process, etc): 1 from my dean, a brief but good one; 1 from my formal prof, a HKS alumni, a very strong rec to prove my study ability; 1 from my Holland supervisor in an NGO i worked for, a detailed and strong one. Questions: 1. I havent taken any economic, maths or statistics classes in univ at all. and my quantatitive background is only my 780 GRE q score. will that be enough? 2. My AW score... ...will it be a big problem during my application? 3. No full-time working experience--can my internship experinces compensate for that? THX!
