  1. My General score was in the 81th percentile, and the Subject Test wasn't pretty either. I still got nominated for 4-year fellowships and full-funding at two top 20 programs already. The GRE is very a culturally-biased exam.
  2. GRE doesn't really matter. I got into a top 20 English PhD program with horrific GRE Subject Test score and a so-so General Test score. Luck? Maybe. Measures my graduate potential? Heck no!
  3. I have the same status. I don't think it's nesscary a "good thing," but it does mean that the admission committe is moving along in terms of reviewing the applications. We might hear soon!
  4. U of Illinois has already sent out acceptance letters via postal
  5. Yeah, it came via postal mail. It was dated Jan 26th, but I just received it.
  6. Just got accepted into U of lllinois at Champaign Urbana!! Whooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  7. I think you can have your professor email the rec to the department coordinator. I spoke to the Maryland coordinator on the phone before. She isn't exacly utra-friendly about things and can easily get annoyed on the phone (with me at least). I guess that gives you a picture of how smoothly/happy the school's administrative department runs...
  8. So I called WashU and asked them about this email I received from the Admin. Coordinator about missing GRE scores. The department coordinator got on the phone and told me that they had made a mistake and that my scores and along with some other stuff are all in. She said, "Yeah, you're all set, you are golden...now this doesn't mean that you are accepted, but you are well on your way..." Am I overanalyzing these silly lines? I guess I just have too much free time on my hands lately. Time passes too slow, I want it to be March already! Gr. Any thoughts, people?
