  1. I don't know whats going on over at GPPI scholarship committee! Either we've all missed the cut (statistically unlikely) or they're totally unconcerned with us ever finding out about the awards. Haha. At least I have other things to distract me (hks? chicago?) over the next, say, 48 hours... keep on keepin' on!
  2. They also offer an "individualized" dual MA with the Econ department. I know this is cheesy, but their facebook page is pretty well put together if you guys wanna check that out. Not as program/department dense as the information on the website, but much more "facebook" style, if you will. http://www.facebook.com/pages/Ann-Arbor ... 6274915606
  3. This is what I'm basing my "ok" state of mind on... I think we're still in the running. ("think" being the operative term) I've been watching my computer screen for 24 hours now, getting old!
  4. Poodles: I haven't heard a peep either from GPPI. They sorta did the same thing last week too though, they actually didn't send anything out till a few days later. It seems like they haven't yet made announcements on this round of awards. I can't imagine that no one on the board gets one of the 2nd round awards... right? We'll see I guess...
  5. any news? Its 3:30 pst and nothing here...

  7. I haven't yet either. Does waiting on the computer for an email increase my chances??? hahaha
  8. My package is virtually the same as runaround's above.
  9. Policy Applicant, Sweet deal on USC. I've spent a ton of time around there and the program has some great city/county government ties. Did you see the UCLA MPP response on the board. Looked like things are starting to go out via snailmail (!!!!). I checked my status today (don't ask me why they're the only school that doesn't do applyyourself or something like that...) and didn't see anything up yet. UCLA has a couple fully funded options that would really make it a tough call for me. But again, lets not put the cart before the horse. Congrats on USC.
  10. !!!!!!! Or more likely, "Congratulations, you have been chosen for scholarship consideration. Unfortunately, the essay you didn't know you were supposed to write is due yesterday, and therefor we cannot consider you for an award." hahahahaha
  11. I didn't receive the award today, but I got one of the essay prompts for scholarship consideration today. Looks like their going through a second cycle. I didn't apply until Feb 1, and was only admitted last week. However, they gave me plenty of time to get the essay to them (a whole 46 hours...).
  12. sisepuede, My GPPI admissions page is the same as it was the day I turned in my app. Same thing with GWU. While Duke did in fact change when the admissions decisions came in, I think you can take the e-mail as your official "acceptance" until you receive their postal letter. Cheers.
  13. Younglions, Thanks! I've very happy considering the way things have turned out. Quite honestly, Duke was one of my "pessimistic" schools. I agree with you that Chicago is likely the stronger quantitative school (where my interests lie as well). However, Duke has some great programs. Between the 1st and 2nd years there is a required intensive internship that students use as the foundation for their Masters thesis. Having done an undergrad thesis, this seems to be a great conncetion; not only to the organization you work with but in advertising yourself to other groups. ProspectiveMPP, Most importantly, I agree that while Duke's MPP program may not be as venerated as KHS/WWS, it is still a very well respected program. My faculty mentors (PhDs uChicago/Rice) both urged the quality of the Duke program to me. And alumni quality may be found in the "intimacy" factor. While HKS has 200 students, Duke has 45-55. No doubt the alumni base will be smaller, but perhaps the alumni connections make up for overall girth. Also, I've heard from a number of sources that the Duke MPP/Environmental Policy is the top of the class. While my interests aren't in enviro policy, I suspect this is a factor in your "ranking." Good luck to all, Lets sort out this Duke issue. C'mon folks, who knows what???
  14. I've been following the board frequently and contributing where I can, and I haven't heard much wind on Duke's MPP Program. From my university faculty, I've heard strong things about the program and it seems to be quite competitive. -50-60 student each class -47% admissions rate -40% Matriculation -644 Verbal (average) -712 Quantitative (average) -3.7 GPA Average Lets do a strengths/weaknesses Strengths: -Small Class Size -Social/Health Policy strengths (Poverty, Education, Homeless, Health Issues, etc.) -Cost of Living (Durham, NC) -Very strong funding Weaknesses: -Location (Not DC, NYU, Boston, etc.) -Small Class Size (Alumni connections?) -Not as "well-known" as GSPP, HKS, WWS, GPPI Duke University is the wildcard, because, I would imagine fewer students applied there. What does the Board think??????
  15. That sounds about right ... I'm sure they'll send out an 'ask' for another essay sometime soon. I was under the impression that Feb. 1 was the application due date (don't remember any funding cut-off date). "... are not required to submit a separate application for scholarship and assistantship consideration." I took this as there wasn't any further essay requirement, but like was said above, I'm probably wrong (as is often the case).
  16. GPPI Admissions must be rolling, I got in today and didn't submit my application until Feb. 1st. And actually, they didn't receive my GRE until the 10th. But interestingly enough, the email I received said I would be considered for merit-based aid without having to submit a further essay.
  17. Just got admission email from GWs MPA this afternoon. Was really surprised they came back so fast, but I won't complain! Just an email from the dept, letter from the graduate school to come...
  18. 10 Applications... Realistically: 4 Acceptances 2 Waitlist (1 successful, 1 rejection) 4 straight Rejections Optimistically: 6 Acceptances 3 Waitlist (2 succesful, 1 rejection) 1 straight rejection GHA! that sounds awful and its totally possible to just get into 1 or 2. ahhh! this whole waiting game is a joke, i'm gonna lose it. haha
