  1. I see that Indiana sent out some rejections. Has anyone heard anything about interviews? I'm not sure if no news is good or bad.
  2. I don't think it's essential to have a detailed research plan. If you can demonstrate that you're capable of understanding past research in the field and that you know how to formulate new questions regarding future research, that should be sufficient. I applied to many labs that use very different model organisms, so it wasn't really possible for me to have a specific project planned for each one. At one of my interviews the POI told me that I would probably spend the first semester deciding what system to work with anyway.
  3. I know how you feel. I'm a biology student, too and haven't heard back from either of my top two choices (I've heard from some mid-level and safety schools, but that's it). I promised myself that I wouldn't pester professors about decisions, but the wait is getting to me. I honestly don't even care if they tell me I'm rejected; i just want to know.
  4. Nope, but about a week ago I got an update from my POI saying that due to funding he would not be taking a student. However, he sent my application and a letter to others in the department encouraging them to consider me. Good luck, and let me know if you hear something.
  5. I had an interview in November at a school that doesn't have a lot of prestige, but they do have a POI that I'd like to work with. Other than that I'm getting a little worried. I haven't heard back from any of my December deadline programs yet. Anyone else? I saw someone post an interview from the Cornell NBB program; does anyone know if they have made all of their offers?
